Yes. the Ep 630 draws 4 times as much power than the sony headphones and twice as much as the philips. It will reduce battery life, but by how much depends on the player. if the player used the battery only for sound, life would become around 4x 
but as other stuff like powering the display/ processing circuitry/ media etc are involved , the hit will be lesser

Anyway When I was in UK One of my collegue gifted me Bose basic systen with only CD option ( no mp3) it was around 450 pounds at that time !
Its interesing that though it sound okay ( no distortion at highest volume ) but I was always Thinkng what was so special about it and I thought may due my lees knowledge about Music stuff I am missing something !!! But SKy is becoming clear I guess!!
