2 Different Brands of Rams on Abit IP-35E ?

Hi guys,

Back with another query :slight_smile: ..

Since i am buying 4 GB of Reaper series Rams from KMD, I wanted to know if i can attach my Corsair 2 GB of Ram alongside the OCZ Reaper. In all, 6 GB of Ram for Graphic intensive application on Vista 32 bit OS with the PAE switch applicable for more than 3 Gigs of Ram. Is it going to be a worthwhile move or is it going to be a risk if the system is overclocked till 3.73 Ghz?? :frowning:

PS : My mobo supports upto 8 gigs of Memory .. one relief :stuck_out_tongue:

I think 32bit of vista doesn’t support more than 4GB of RAM.

i dont think 32 bit supports more than 2GB actually

infact it does as per many articles… here

Physical Address Extension - PAE Memory and Windows
its only applicable for 32 bit Windows. Reading that made me think about increasing Rams on Vista 32 bit :smiley: … but i wanted to know if its really worthwhile attaching 2 different brands of rams :thinking:

no brand issues so long they can run at similar speeds without any unstability.

32 bit support 4 gb ram

64 bit support 64-128 gb ram so no confused

also i own 2x2 gb =4 gb test at my 32 bit it show max 3.5 gb ram

Wow, lots of reading there, good info though

Yes, comprehending to the 3.5 GB tag for vista 32 on 4 gigs, the PAE comes into action if you want to get the os to read more than 3.5 GB. But it sure does have its side effects.

And about the 2 different brands being used, I also wanted to make sure if i overclock there should not be a problem.. has any of you tried it ?

Yes motherboards do support two different brands of ram .

The Abit IP35-E supports three slots of ram without any problem . There have been issues with 4 sticks of ram . U’ll have to play arnd with memory divider to get 4slots working .

Also OCZ reaper series operate at 2.1V , you shud have a corsair with similar voltage .
If 2 different kits of ram are used , they should operate exactly the same at “x” voltage .i.e. their frequency n timings should be same .

+1 for that Pup!..

needed just the kind of information !..
need some more info on the pointers you gave there ..

What issues would you address with 4 Gb rams ?
whats a memory divider ?
what if the frequencies and timings are different or if there is some kind of a barrier which would not allow the latter to be the same, will the system not boot up or would there be any physical damage involved ?

Hopefully these questions would clear mine as well as others who may face the same issues :slight_smile:

also … will i be able to increase the freq. of the reapers to around 1100 Mhz on IP35-E ?

Yup, if u can supply adequate voltage n remove the heat out of those sticks..

May I ask Y those reapers anyway???

There’re better RAMs tat overclocks better for the price it retails, jus FYI..

which ones would you suggest ?

Transcend Axe Rams 1066;

G.Skill GBHZ 800Mhz;

Dominators..

They’ve D9GMH chips.. Rock solid stability… :slight_smile:

what about the price… cuz m payin’ 6200 for 4 gigs — reapers

These shud be a li’l higher cos Microns dont come cheap… :stuck_out_tongue:

2*1GB Transcend AxeRams 1066 @ 5-5-5-15 shud fetch 4k;

Tats a ref rate fer u..

reapers aint that good ??? :thinking: … i ve already ordered em from KMD

theres also a coupla d9gmh 2gig kits on sale in the market..

funky is selling his axerams and kiddo is selling his gskills…

too late.. i ve already ordered em from KMD

too late.. i ve already ordered em from KMD

but if i dont plan to overclock em much.. do you think the performance is at par as compared to the rams suggested above ?
