250GB drives shoot out.

Came across this 250gb drives shoot out at Storagereview …

http://www.storagereview.com/php/benchmark/suite_v4.php?typeID=10&testbedID=4&osID=6&raidconfigID=1&numDrives=1&devID_0=285&devID_1=300&devID_2=299&devID_3=301&devID_4=298&devID_5=303&devID_6=302&devCnt=7

The conclusion was that the Maxtor was the best as a file server drive and the Hitachi best for single users.

Well, I bought the Hitachi SATA2…Its a full 1K more than the sata1 model. I didn’t have much time to think, so just went ahead and bought the sata2. Now it better be good.

I was reading the user reviews on newegg - i read the first five pages (50 reviews) for each drive - the hitachi 250 had a large number of failures (7-8 within the first year and quite a few in just the first 2 months) . The WD by comparison had only ~2 ( I’m not counting DOAs as thats a different matter )
