Yep, but these previews did lack some games, however we do know the performance. But I doubt if these cards will be less than $550 at least, $600 is where they’ll probably start with, 2gb ddr5 wouldn’t come cheap!
the power consumption is huge , 2x more than GTX 280 idle and micro sluttering etc makes GTX 280 better buy if 4870x2 is priced more than 500 $
i am hoping some good price drops on GTX 280 after this is launched , then i will pick one
before you blame HD4870X2 for higher power consumption, go & double check all reviews.the power saving features are disabled on HD4870X2 or even 4870/4850..
why do people keep defending the broken powerplay on ati products by saying that they will be fixed in later driver releases?
if ati intends to release a product with a certain feature, and that feature is not available at launch, tehn all it indicates is shoddy work from the company.
despite having made such a damn good vfm product, ati seems to have slipped up on its drivers once again. broken powerplay, broken fan control…
powerplay right now is not ‘disabled’.. disabled would mean that you can ‘turn it on’.. but thats not the case. it just doesnt work. aka.. its broken

i am going to go as far as saying fanboism
you have to admit it is currently broken
another problem i saw is that if you OC using amd gpu clock tool, it disables your profile in ccc and then the fan doesnt run at the speed that you enter in the fan hack
lol do you seriously think gtx280 might beat 4870x2 if newer drivers come out?
that (p)review has been out for quite some time,so might explain the older driver.nvidia will need a significant improvement from drivers if they want to position gtx280 against the 4870x2,instead of having 4870 clawing at its heels.
umm yeah someone who buys a card worth 500$ just to play some games on a 30’’ monitor is concerned about electricity bills:rofl:
and why should gtx price drop if it is the better buy if 4870x2retails at 500$,or maybe its because you know that 4870x2 is better and ati will try and position it right in the face of gtx280 and then gtx280 price will go down.
How in the world can u say that by saying what I said, meant 280 would be faster than 4870x2 I dint! I meant it would be a little faster with newer drivers, 4870x2 would definitely be a faster.
And I do apologize that I dint look at the date of publishing.

I have a 280 SLI and I did factor the power consumption since I know its power friendly. So yea whoever is buying these cards would definately look there, not just merely bcoz of electricity bills but also for PSU requirements.
God knows why none of the reviewer’s have overclocked their system even one bit, at least they could have shown some stats how much these cards are getting bottle necked!
