8600 "fatality edition" worth it?

guys
there are two 8600 GT versions by xfx

1.XFX GeForce 8600GT
Memory: 256MB GDDR3
Core: 540MHz
Clock: 1.4GHz

2.XFX GeForce 8600GT “Fatal1ty†Edition
Memory: 256MB GDDR3
Core: 620MHz
Clock: 1.7GHz

fatality edition seems to b factory overclocked version .

1.is it available NP , delhi (if yes them plz quote prices for both editions)?
2.how much is the performance improvement over stock 8600GT?
3.wat about overheating/stability problems due to already overclocked gpu?
4. when a user overclocks his hardware(proccy/gpu/ram) and he toasts any of them , then he gets no warranty.but wont the same apply to this factory overclocked 8600?
5. fatality edition commands a premium of 600-1000 over stock 8600GT. is it worth it in terms of performance , fps?
6. if it is worth it and if ocing is in “safe limits” then can we ourselves overclock 8600GT to specs of fatality edition and save some money? do they use some spl heatsinks etc on fatality edition?
and finally is it worth it over stock 8600GT?

dunno abt delhi but elsewhere its kinda rare to find…wen i gt my 86 the diff was more than 1.5-2k bucks…so for me , it simple wasnt worth it..
those kind of clocks are easily reached on a stock 8600gt…but what differs is the better coolers that come with it …passive “Silent But Deadly” (SBD) cooling …
btw oced gfx cards will not guarantee a huge perfo gain…
so to sum it up..u shud go for the fatal1ty edition if:
a>da diff is nt more than 500-600bucks..highly doubt that
b>ur a noob at ocing
On a diff note ,pour that 1000 bucks on the 512 ed of dis card(gddr3)…

Over the stock, yes definitely worth. When a 512MB ddr2 costs close to Rs500 more because of the extra 256MB ram, going for the oced version is a no brainer. Regarding performance, this card is slightly slower than the 8600GTS but has a passive cooler, so no fan noise.

Factory overclocked cards do have warranty because the manufacturers have tested these cards to be working fine at that clock speed.

.

Right between these two versions is the 8600GT XXX version. It has a core of 620Mhz and Memory CLock of 1.6Ghz and 256mb of ddr3. That is another option you can try.

If the XXX/Fatality edition are within 500-750Rs of the normall version, I would say they are worth it. If more, they are not. The XXX version gives you about a 10-15% boost over the normal depending on the game you are running. And that 10-15% can have a decent effect on a midrange card that is usually borderline sufficient to run a few new games.

I got an 8600GT 256 MB GDDR3 recently and it is working fine with my CRT (1024*768 res).
IMO if u are playing at a max. res of 1280 * 1024 then the stock version wil be sufficient . I wont recommend going for the Fatality version for a slightly better fps at that res.

hey people what do you mean by the clock here i am new at GFX so plz answer my silly question!!

my friend bought fatality edition when it was released for 7200 INR , his rig is not that great, still using p4 2.66 ghz and its making the 8600gt under perform a lot ..

its runs very hot too , i suggest you to go with normal edition , i dont understand why people want to invest 1 k bucks more if you can overcloack gfx card yourself :cool2:

^^^if you can overclock gfx card yourself.

Want warranty?

got a 1024*768 (or widescreen) monitor - don’t

got a 1200*1024 (or widescreen) monitor - do

can u lz explain ur post?
sounding totally out of place

:S Wats d relevance of this one here???

i dont know wat is amandeep trying to say

he sure is funny

If u want warranty and do not want to overcock your GFX card then buy the F edition,

still 2 more aspects,

If u got a 1024*768 [usually 17"] (or a widescreen version) monitor then no use going for the F edition,

But if u got a 1280*1024 [usually 19"] (or a widescreen version) then it will come handy buying the “F” version Card

Hope this helps, i had to post all this again as my previous post was deleted

now it is all so clear.
