9500 gt for my psu?

I dunno which brand my PSU is,
its most probably the one that come preinstalled in a CPU case,
i can run 7100gs very easily,
but the question is whether it’ll be the same for the 9500gt,
and i have no problems upgrading to a 9600gso, but thats only if my PSU can run it,
please vote,
and reply in this thread

most generic 400 watt psu will not be able to handle 9600 grade card ..but may be able to run 9500 gt . why take chance ? spend additional 2.2k and buy a coolermaster 450 watts and then run 9600gt/gso whatever you like

BTW will you do me a favor ??

when you will go to market..please PM me the price of 9500gt ! I am also planning to buy it !

i think 9500GT does not need 6pin power input…same as 8600GT .

a 450W PSU will do good .

guys W label isnt everything, as U know good 450W SMPS like VX450 beats many 600W SMPS in effeciency, heat, noise and cables quality - CM eX 600W, POV Black Diomand, VIP etc and many more which r not avl in India eg. Rosewill etc.

Components need clean reliable power, nothing is overkill if U have wondered why some1 chosed VX450 for HTPC with GPU like ATI 3450. Its money well spent.

desi psu can easily handle 9500gt

^^ Yeah??? For how many seconds??? Why take chances by choking the system to death???

At the risk of going off-topic:

Well suppose I wanted to hook up a GPU that needs two PCIe connectors… then shouldn’t I go for CM 600W? Since it has 2 connectors? As much as VX450 is good, it has only one PCIe connector. And the higher versions of Corsairs cost a lot.

GPUs that require 2 PCI 6pin r HD 4870, 8800GTX or 9800GTX and GTX 2XX series. 8800/9800GTX r not worthy buy now :stuck_out_tongue: , now left 4870/GTX2XX, which have high power requirements, UR rig surely deserve better PSU, Corsair TX650 will do.

molex to PCIe converters are easily available !

Hmm.. hadn’t heard of them before. but the question is will the VX450W have enuf amps to power a GTX260.

Yes it will, just checked, @ IDLE GTX 260 consumes just 1W more than 8800GT, and @ LOAD 60W more, QX9770 + X48 + 260 + 4X1GB RAM + SATAII HDD rig consumes 262W @ LOAD.

AnandTech: The Radeon HD 4850 & 4870: AMD Wins at $199 and $299

Dunno whats the right method to know these things :S , nothing better than practical testing, if we believe above it will even handle GTX 280 or 4850 CF, where consumption is approx 300W.

Ma fren on other forum has tested 8800GTX which also consumes similar power w/ VX450, and no issue found.

ok, i think i won’t be buying a psu,
and i’ll make sure i tell you

thnx a lot mate :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
