9500GT, RV740 & others

While GeForce 9500GT is certainly slower than the other GeForce 9 series cards, there will be two more cards based on the even cheaper and stripped down G98 core. GeForce 9300GS and 9300GE are the names of the cards, but the exact specifications remains the shadows.

RV740 is the next best thing of the upcoming R700 series. The chip will replace the RV635 as the new mid-range alternative. Much like the RV635, RV740 will sport a 128-bit memory bus. The reason is to keep the costs down and the PCB simple, but thanks to the high memory frequency of the coming GDDR5 standard, the actual memory bandwidth will still be as good as it would with a 256-bit bus and GDDR3 memory.

GT200 will sport 200 shader processors, a figure which is dividable by 8, but not 16, which is the size of the current shader clusters of the G8x/G9x cores. The same source also says that GT200 will sport a 512-bit crossbar bus. We’re not sure if Crossbar is just a name or if it actually means a crossbar bus. The GPU is still slated for launch in Q3.

Rumor mill says GT200 has 200 shader processors, 512-bit bus | NordicHardware

Heard a rumour of 240 SP’s as well, from B3D

if R770 is rumored to be 480 Sp ..den R740 wid 240 Sp sounds reasonable.

^^Yup it does but i feel that the 480 SP thing was just a rumour.

I was talkin abt the Nvidia GT200 or whatever anyway, thats the one which is rumoured to have 240 SP’s

Nvidia n AMD have diff architectures ..R670 has 320sp and G80/G92 has 128sp.

the above rumors seem to be really achievable considering both AMD and nvidia will be moving to 45 nm with there next gen products.

Yup i know, i was talking with respect to the respective SP’s of each architecture. GT200 with 240 Nvidia SP’s and RV770 with 480 ATI SP’s. Theres even a rumour that RV770 will have 800 SP’s, along with 32 TMU’s, thus giving them an even greater ALU:TEX ratio of 5:1.

AMD’s next gen is still 55 nm. and nvidia’s seems likely to be still on 65 nm though they might be goin to 55 nm as well. we wont see 45 nm until late Q408 or Q109
