Adventure games - amazing genre only few like

Hi Folks,

I am interested to know, how many TE mates like to play adventure games. I for one really like this genre very much.
It engrosses me with the story, characters. emotions and puzzles.

Lets start the discussion

meesa a big fan of adventure games - i tend to play more of the humorous adventures (MI series etc) rather than the more serious ones (aka the recently released sherlock holmes : Awakening)

Currently playing Sam and Max season 1 (finished) and on EP4 of Season 2

lagamorphs FTW!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Huge fan. Adventure games really test the mind. Just finished Perry Rhodan, decent game pretty easy.

I also like ad games a lot, with some RPG involved in it, like zelda games, i love em, mass effect was also a nice game, and many many more

The only ones I really got a good taste of were the dos “point and click” varieties and they were still, all awesome.

nothing beats Neverwinter Nights series IMHO

Dink Smallwood ftw :stuck_out_tongue:

(i wonder if i got the name right)

Syberia and the longest journey imo are the greatest adventure games ever made.

I personally would rate Monkey Island, Myst and Grim Fandango as my favourites.

I did not like Syberia much but longest journey was awesome. Also try Return to Mysterious Island. I have been wanting to play Myst for a long time.

@whatsinaname

Is Myst progressive, i.e. is the story of first related to the second?

Dreamfall : The Longest Journey, my all time favourite

It’s the same universe so I think you should play Myst I first.

The rest may be played out of order without losing too much.

I’ve played Myst, Riven (II) and then Revelation (IV) and I didn’t feel too much of a jump. (Though I did play Revelation a few years after Riven)

Edit: If you are playing Myst 1 on the PC, look to get the version called “Real Myst”. It’s a graphical update over the initially released version.

I had tried Myst 1 but its too outdated. Refused to run on XP. I was thinking of starting from Myst 2 or 3.

+1 to Monkey Island and Grim Fandango , also Sierra’s point-and-click series like Kings Quest , Quest for Glory , all favorites . Hope they make MI5: Guybrush Returns :stuck_out_tongue:

Real Myst is an official 3-D update of the game. It should run on XP without too many problems. The game is also out for the Nintendo DS and the PSP. I strongly recommend that you finish Myst 1 before embarking on the others. It’s worth the hassle of getting it to run.

The ending was horrible :@. Too many loose ends, there better be a third part to the series.

Many here like the old classics a lot

But there are some new games that are also equally good

Still Life
Secret files - Tunguska
Broken Sword series
Nibiru
Culpa Innata
Sherlock Holmnes series
Agatha Cristie series

and many more

i think it’s gonna come in 2009

no other genre of game gives as much pleasure in completing :stuck_out_tongue:

it wasn’t horrible

they did announce dreamfall episodes sometime back, not sure what happened to that though.
