my stock amd 64 3000 heat sink Fan has Stopped working..
it would first run at around 4500-4900 RPM speed… wheni checked last time
now then one day i noticed my cpu temp was too high… in PC probe
so opned up the cabinet… i noticed the CPU fan was not spinning… i gave some push it started to spin… then i again checked it was spinning at 1200-900 RPM and then it again stopped in middle…
so i cleaned it up… and checked again but this time it didn’t even spin when i gave it a push…
Frist i thought my Motherboard CPU FAN pin or my PSU is screwed up…
so i hacked the CPU FAN Connector and removed the Ground(black) & +12v(Red) Wires… and pluged in directly in PSU molex connector …
BUT Still it Didnt Spin…
So now WTB a NEW Cooler
Should i Go for original AMD stuff or Some other??
Arre just get any AMD cooler Lamington Rd anything that fits into the socket
another thing you could do is just replace the fan on that heatsink you can buy a 70-80mm fan for under 200 bux and just replace it, It will work just fine
since the 70mm fan is not so easy to find , just get a high speed the 80mm fan , like delta or NMB, why i suggest u high speed fan cos u can control the cpu fan speed from the mother board itself.
Try to get Glacialtech Igloo 7220 (AMD) from theitwares.com for Rs.400/-. In some review, I happened to read that it is better than the stock fan. TheITWares - Cooler Master
Try this first…it may work for you … I did it to my Antec 120mm fan a few days back as it had become very noisy and now its absolutely quite… put very little oil…
Buy one 70mm fan with 3pin molex connector to replace the amd fan. That will seve ur purpose. Shn’t cost more than Rs.200/- as in Delhi /Kolkata. I can give Delhi (mallisen computer, nehru place) and Kolkata (chadni) dealer’s address, if reqd.
i was not able to find the 70mm fan so i modded my own, i used a old power supply exhaust fan 120mm that was lying around, now my cpu is running at 33C previously it used to hover around 40C… and it dosent make noise too
well .. i just removed all the internals of original amd 70mm fan i mean the motor.. so that i get the outer square only… then i stuck the 120mm fan on top of 70mm fan square with fevistick (note: make to put the 120mm fan correctly:cool2: ) there will be spaces left so just put industrial ducty tape around it… and mount it.. on the heatsink…
