Hey guys,
Yesterday i picked some cheapo RAM for Mohit.
Its ‘Ramos’ Brand. It is an unknown brand but comes with 3 years warranty which does matter a lot to many.
This memory costs around 2,450/- for a 512MB Stick of DDR2 533.
Anyways i have been using a 512MB stick of the same in my office Machine in my AMD AM2 setup for quite some time.
I decided to give this ram a shot.
Check out what it could do…
Ramos 512MB DDR2 533 OC
OC was done @ 1.9V as my board doesnt support more :@
If you feed it more voltage how much will it be able to do??? :S

^ Well since they will mostly be Elpida’s or Mosel’s or somethin, they’ll probably die
@ Darky - Great find

Most DDR 2’s operate on 1.8Vol… Some Operates on 2.0+ Volts…
^^ The ones rated @ DDR2 800 or so require 2.0V + to operate at those rated speeds.

Again there are exceptions… The GEIL 2 Gig Kit i have operates at 1.8 Volts and is a DDR 2 800 MHz Ram…
The ones with lower latencies needs higher volts…

^^ See basically all performance RAM’s use Micron chips (i.e. D9GMH / D9GKX).
Now a D9GMH is typically rated at 667Mhz by Micron, of which limited quantities are picked by memory manufacturers, clocked to 800Mhz at a higher voltage of say 2.0/2.1 volts.
A chip like D9GKX though, would do 800Mhz (Rated) at say 1.8v and about 1066 at 2.0/2.1 volts
Hope that clears your doubt Switch !

Nice explanation there Anish… But mine isn’t performance RAM… Infact its a value RAM which operates at 800MHz with 5-5-5-15 timings @ 1.8 volts… Also it ain’t no Micron
Also i think it was Mohit who was confused not me
^^I think he was refering to you. But since you are not confused, the confusion remains, who is confused… as Mohit was not who he was refering to. This is all too confusing now.

this is what the Ramos ddr2 533 mhz is doing on my comp. its memtest86 stable and works at 1.85 volt.
i am running it at 4-4-4-12 @ 1.85volt @ DDR2 667mhz without any probs.
PS : the screenie shows 4-4-4-20 but its an error …in the BIOS its 12 and not 20 …an issue with CPU-Z it seems.
RAM is worth the money …2500/- for DDR2 667 512 MB with 3 years warranty is awesome.
Are 1GB sticks available? Quite a good OC for value stuff.
Raghu.
^^ I guess they are,never asked actually

Ramos may be another Brand from Twinmos, as it already have Promos
Can you find the price of the 1GB stick Darky? Might need it for the January upgrade Anyone got any clues on what chip these might be? Searching online doesnt seem to provide a lot of info.
Raghu.
^^after lots of googling i read somewhere that rammos is a samsung oem
