I will regularly be downloading RAR files. I need a good and ease to use RAR extractor. I will prefer to have something which is free, but in case you think that there is something better which just gives a free trial and is a popular software, I will manage.

hmm can try 7z too…
7z doesnt work with an archive split into multiple rar files.

I first started using it because it had a feature I did not find in any other program ( freeware that is ) : find a file within one or more archives. Pretty good.
even winRAR has the find feature,just look at the top toolbar
try winace i have been using it for quite a few years now a lot of functions and ripping speedddd 
nothing beats WinRAR! if u need the best, get WinRAR
just for the heck of it, u can try any other software. 
If I recall correctly, the newest version does work with multi-volume archives. Anyawy, if 7z isn’t to your liking, there are some other free tools listed here - rar extractor list.
I like WinRAR, but I don’t like the fact that it’s trialware 
been using Winrar (extensively) for over a decade now, havent found the need to look for another.
I prefer universal extractor and/or total commander for doing anything concerned with extraction/compression. They both borrow plugins from the original proggies whose functions you can customize using command line switches
OT How to add password in rar files
using winrar? yea add files to your archive and when ‘archive name and parameters’ dialog box comes up, go to advanced->Set Password
