Labras are definitely maintenance free but golden retrievers have dense and long fur…so when its really hot, they tend to shed a lot of hair since they are not able to bear the heat which gets worse due to their thick fur.. apart from tht, they do not have any other problems..
Kumar, why not go for a labra ? Its a moderately large breed and are better suited to indian climate..
Though, if i decided to get a new doggy, it wud be a German shepherd once again.. Very very intelligent and adorable breed..
Depends from breeder to breeder and city to city.. I had to pay 3k for my Roo.. But tht was like more than a decade back.. Nowadays, they can evn charge u upto 8-9k…those rates are just indicative..
Thts why indian breeds (desi) are the best…no matter what, they are resistant to all sorts of diseases, and evn if they get a wound, they can take care of it themselves.. And they live long too.. Thts why, on second thoughts, why not adopt a stray dog? He’ll come free of cost and will be easy to maintain too..and also be as good a family member as a german shepherd or labra…
We’ve had 2 desi doggies before Roo (who was a german shepherd)..and they were very good pets too..
If u r ready to spend lot of money on dogs.. then go for English Mastiff..
breed is awesome… i have 2 grate danes, they are really nice.. but it is common to have grate danes.. go for english mastiff
btw, Mastiffs need a LOT of space. and they can get a bit aggressive if not neutered early. My neighbour has a Neopolitan Mastiff, and ive seen him grow from a wee little pup to a bloody humongous dog that he is now.
Well.. from personal experience I can say that Goldens do shed quite a bit, but it can be easily controlled by brushing it once a week, one of the best breeds to own if you can devote enough time and attention to the dog(they do not like to be kept alone).
at vij: I would suggest you go through the forum Puppy & Dog Forums, the members aren’t specifically from India, so they may not be able to help you with the breeders and stuff, but they will definitely be able to help you with the general temperament of the dog, training the dog, what you should look out for, etc. They’re very helpful, helped me with a lot of doggie questions I had before buying my Golden. Anyways, If you need any help training, give a shout out.
Cheers!
