Hey guys…
I just cleaned my ATi x800 xl . Stock heatsink.. just opened up the upper covering and found loads of dust in there..
Now have it running @ 425 / 1080.
Above that even by 1 on any of the two, GPU or Memory.. Gives me Artifacts..
Does any1 have an idea about the Limit, as in how high the GPU and Memory can go w/o Artifacts?
GPU Temp : 36 Idle
59 MAX Load
Environment : 35 Idle
41 MAX Load
well, thoerectically people get artifacts due to High Temperatures of the Memory right?
Well, even 41 isnt High :S… Whats wrong? Any idea?
Heres a Pic of the Clock and Idle temperatures…

Thanx for any help…
u also get artifacts after u reach the limit of the memory.
its not always the temperature.

the problem with X800XL is the lower voltages compared to other X800 series and X800XT.
There is a pensil vmod which is simple to do. Google it you will find it easily.

So the problem is Power? Nothing else?

well kinda. The GPU and memory operates at lesser voltages on X800XL. So the limited overclockin. Remember as you increase voltage it will also increase thermal output of the card.

^^ The other problem is the lack of a PCI-E connector that hinders overclocking!
Yep lack of voltage is the main culprit behind the not-so-great overclocking potential of the x800xl.
