Attention Dell 2407 WFP-HC owners!!!

Hi

All those who are using older panels (pre september) and experiencing problems can get a refund according to statement released by Dell in their support forums.

If you wish to return the monitor for a refund before 11-8-2007, please send an email to the following address:

2407WFP-HCMonitor@dell.com

The subject line of that email should read, 2407WFP-HC Ghosting Refund/CRA (credit return authorization)

In the email, provide the following information:

Name

Address

Phone number

Order number and/or Service tag number

Monitor 20 digit PPID number

Reason: I need a Refund/CRA (credit return authorization) due to the 2407WFP-HC Ghosting issue

Above was direct copy/paste from Farookhs post :stuck_out_tongue:

Alternatively, you can also attempt to get a newer panel which is supposed to be lot better.

But if you ask me, if you are mainly frustrated with ghosting do the following.

  1. Calibrate your monitor with Spyder…My calibrated color profile is here…

RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting

It works well for me…Use it… It may not fit perfectly with your monitor but it can make a good impact more often than not…

  1. After that tone down the brightness to 40 and the contrast to 42. The default is 50.

Bingo most of your troubles are gone

To be honest I have a feeling the default brightness and contrast have been toned down in newer panels…

I dont think they have done any changes and Dell themselves have stated they wont be making changes to the panel…

Also multimedia mode in the settings seem to work better for me…
Hope that helps…

Try this:

Color Format: PC RGB

Color Settings Mode: PC Mode

Color Adjustment: PC Custom Color

Red: 86

Green: 85

Blue: 84

And lower the brightnessand contrast to around 45.

These are not calibrated settings. These are cheap workarounds.

Alternatively use an application called softMCCS from EnTech Taiwan | softMCCS

and…

  • Once installed, start the softMCCS application

  • Scroll down to Preset operations

  • By Restore factory defaults, click the green Restore arrow

  • The display will black out and then return

  • By Restore factory luminance/contrast defaults, click the green Restore arrow

  • By Restore factory geometry defaults, click the green Restore arrow

  • By Restore factory color defaults, click the green Restore arrow

  • Scroll down to the Image adjustment section

  • Use the left/right slider bar and change -

Luminance (brightness) = 50

Contrast = 50 (if listed)

  • Under color preset, choose sRGB

Red video gain = 86

Green video gain = 85

Blue video gain = 84

  • Close the softMCCS box

  • Click No to KEEP the changes if asked

Also if you are calibrating with a calorimeter..do the calibration after doing thses changes. Thats what I did.

An then tone down the brightness and contrast a few points if necessary…

Now, I find my display almost perfect…

Helps almost everyone to a great extent.
