Cabinet Advice

Hi guys,
i did my trip to Laminton road .. meccha for pc parts in mumbai.
Here is the config that i have been Quoted.
AMD 3200+ (Asus A8NE) 14950/- (all prices are in inr)
DDR 2X512 MB Transiant 400MhZ 4700/-
Server Cabinet 7850/-
And i’m getting the Ati X850X 256MB pci Express card from my friend in US for 200$
And i allready have a SATA segate barracuda !
so my Question is Do i really need to spend 8K on cabinet …
guys please advice ???

Server Cabinet 7850/-

Which cabinet is that? Whatever it is, its not required. If you want a big spacious cabinet, the VIP zb01 is for around 4K. If you want something better looking, the antec super lanboy is for around 5.5-6K.

Theres a antec P180, and a TT XaserIII for sale in the market section. Check those out too.

What is the power supply that you are gonna use? Get a big beefy one. That X850 is a power hog.

Get either a new ZB-01 or the P180 for sale in the Market…

Buy any one of these -

  1. Antec P180 Cabinet = Rs. 8,850.
  2. Antec TX1088AMG Cabinet = Rs. 10,400.
  3. Cooler Master CM Stacker 810 (RC-810) Black Cabinet = Rs. 10,500.
  4. Cooler Master CM Stacker 830 (RC-830) Cabinet = Rs. 15,500.

funky told me the other day that the p160 is around 5k. so i suggest u get that & get a decent psu for around 2-3k. get p160 over the superlanboy.

And get an Antec TP2.0 550W or a Zebby 540Watts. The Zebronics is actually a rebranded Skyhawk.

Dont get confused with the cheap made in India Zebby 500 watts

Antec P160 Cabinet costs between Rs. 6500 & 7500 & Antec Super Lanboy Cabinet costs Rs. 4750.

P160 is sold by 1 dealer at 5750. The same one selling antec products on ebay.in

You might wana check it out.

since u are buying a good high end pc. i wouldnt suggest lanboy. try n buy something bigger & more spacious.

The SuperLanboy is actually pretty spacious and very easy to work with ( As far as I’m concerned. Don’t ask Funky though  )

If I put a 7800GT to a New system(SLI),I waana build,& currently dont use the option of SLI,by putting another 7800GT,CAN I USE A POWERSAFE 500Watts SMPS as the PSU??

Question is of MUCH IMPORTANCE & want genuine answers!

Nope. No way. If that’s the case, get an Antec or the Zebronics 640W which Funky got for 5.5K. Its an OEM Skyhawk PowerOne - Rock solid.

if i say replace the 7800GT with a lower crib 6800GT,would not also then “MY PLAN” be successful with the PS500W PSU?

The 6800GT has become obsolete the new face in town is the 6800GS.

rather than using 2 x 6800gt techie u rather use a single 7800gt.

FYI, the 6800GT consumes more power than a 7800GT if I remember what I had seen at AT right.

ya freaky thats what is written everywhere but isnt true.

i have tried this & the 6800gt was working with a certain psu & then the 7800gt was giving probs on the same one. had to remove 1 hdd for the 78 to work.

good that u folks shared my concern!

BTW,the system i’m planning has already xcceded my budget of 1,00,000(INR)

so was considering a VFM PSU like the PS 500W (out of budget constraints),for putting into a SLI system(currently not in SLI-mode) with a single 6800GT or a 7800Gt at best.

I was actually thinking for a G-Series VIP cab with a PS 500W PSU(totalling a Max of 5,000 INR),but now since i reckon the SINGLE 7800GT or even the SINGLE 6800GT quite a POWER Drinker,& with a Antec TP-2.0 550W SLI Ready PSU,(here costing above 7.5K & x’tra for the cabby),I may be OUT OF BUDGET already!

So,is it imperative now,IF I GO FOR A SLI RIG(IN NON-SLI MODE,with single 6800gt or a 7800gt),I GO Only & ONLY WITH A BS Antec 550 PSU OR ELSE,I STOP FANCYING THE SLI RIG?// with even a PS 500W PSU//

((PS- the PS 500W PSU is just the STOP GAP arrangement which i was contemplating for a single gfx PCI-E card in the SLI-Ready board, only to be latter upgraded by a Full Antec SLI-Ready 550W PSU,when in full SLI-MODE with the double whammy!))

NOW,AM I JUSTIFYBLY WRONG IN MY PLANS???
