Ok now i get this error -
Try swapping the ram slots. I was getting the same error on my temp SLI-D and it got fixed when I swapped ram slots. Also check that bank interleaving is disabled in the bios.
I should disable Bank interleaving ?
I did Memtesting on both in Yellow slots. While installing the OS,i shifted both to orange slots.
^^Try it and try installing OS with ram in yellow slots. These lanparty boards are finicky… they have their own whims and fancies at times :P. When they work, they are the best mobos in the business but when they don’t i felt like tearing all the hair on my head :@.
^^ I am getting the same feeling right now.Grrrrr…
Check your SATA Cable too…
Damn…
Why not try a single RAM slot 1st during the install, with a single IDE HDD and a single ootpical drive (on separate IDE channels) ?
- Disable all onboard integrated peripherals
At least that minimizes possibilities of IRQ conflicts
Once the damn thing is up & running, try the other stick, devices and peripherals one at a time…
Trying a Linux Live CD might also be a good idea…
Who knows, the Windows Install CD may be corrupt after all!
On second thoughts, a better idea than a Linux Live CD may be this:
Best troubleshooting gun for such problems
@ Darknight , i am using PATA Drive,not SATA
@ Superczar, i using 1 HDD,1 ODD,GPU thats all.I was talking to Chaos, even he suggested using ODD n HDD on different channels,i’ll give that a try.
Darky, D/L the UBCD iso…
It can do wonders in debugging startup issues!
Really…
^^ Ok doing that now.
That’s a buggered mobo. something is wrong with one of the components, best get it swapped for a new one.
These errors are not detectable on ram tests. My old Asus A7VM-M board on the KT266A chipset used to give random BSODs, IRQ_less or equal messages and what not. Tried everything from bios flashes to memory changes…absolutely everything, but failed.
Gave it to a mobo repair guy for component level checking, and came up with some defective components on the board - some caps were faulty.
Try getting it swapped for a new one darky.
^^he got the mobo frm the USA.
^^ It suddenly does seem to look like a mobo issue.
Did you try disabling bank interleaving and switching slots ?
Also what are the RAM timings ?
Try :
CAS - 2
TRCD - 2
TRP - 2
TRAS - 5
DRAM IDLE - 16 Clk
TRFC - 15
TRRD - 2
TWR - 2
TWTR - 1
TREF - 3120
TWCL - Auto
Bank Interleave - Auto (Or as per you tested setting)
Skew Control - Auto
Skew - 0
DRAM Drive Stregth - Auto
Note : These are recommended BH-5 timings I picked up somewhere on DFI -Street loong back
Yeha i got the board from US.Will have to send it back to get it replaced
mmmm, at least try running a linux live CD, better still, try doing a full install of either suse/xandros…
BTW, didn’t ubcd reveal anything?
@darky : try another CD/DVD of winxp .. just a thought.. are u running with the failisafe bios setting?
Well i tried installing installing through WinXp +SP1,didnt help at all
hmm could be some issues since this is a pretty new board, i suggest u try winxp with integrated sp2.. give it a go..
I am trying to install it with SP2 integrated CD only
Anyways, once i clear my SATA drive, will give it a shot with it,if nothing helps, this board is going back to DFI,thats it, i dont have ample time to keep troubleshooting.
Ahem …cough …cough …

will try a fresh xp install. since i do not have any spare HDD ATM (Donations Welcome ) I will try with my spare 5GB 2.5" laptop HDD (with a suitable convertor).
The ULI Chipset does get very hot. A fan would help in Keeping it cool.
Will keep you posted …
EDIT: Neverthless this m/b is going for RMA.
