also which wifi card to buy…
i might also need to listen music and watch movies residing on my pc…

yes you can..get a wifi card.
If you have vista, then go to setup a network connection, adhoc network, and select internet connection sharing later on when the wizard asks..

It would be better to get a cheap wifi router for 1800 soemthing and use it..use the desktop using wired lan..
