my frens eating my head about converting my Divx movies into DVD and write them to dvd so that they can watch on their dvd player..
Sigh they dont hav computers at home so i tried 1 software
i dont remember the full name and im at office now
the software was somewhat like DivX to dvd converter
it creates Video_TS folder under that it converts all the files (DIVX to .vob)
well the prob is.. if i put 4+ divx to convert the size reaches upto 7GB cant fit on 1 dvd and if i put 3divx it eaches 3.5 bg. why so?
also the conversion takes about 4-5 hours :S
and after copying the .vob VIDEO_TS folder on dvd , my friend said that only the track 1 played. track 2,3 doesnt play :@
can anyone guide how to make divx work on dvd??
there is other file with .vob small data like file.
can anyone explain dvd video structure ??
any divx to dvd conversion software which shows teh exact size? cause sometimes size reaches 7gb after converting 4 divx’s
hope to get help soon.

Although i might converting divx (a low quality format) to dvd(hq) isn’t recommended. When dvds are converted to divx a lot of data is lost and reconverting it back to dvd isn’t going to improve quality. Garbage in > Garbage out.

That’s the best software I’ve come across, better than WinAvi as it has better support for subtitles. It’s also freeware and comes with all the necessary codecs.
wow. thanks for overwhelming response! ill post back if there’s prob
I am facing the same problem. I tried converting 3 DivX movies to DVD and the output DVD size was a wopping 12GB…
Not recommended! Best option would be to buy player with divx support - one of low cost and best player is Pioneer 383/393
use dvd santa.. it works fine..
even dvd fab or dvd rebuilder should do.
Simplest and the fastest is to burn using ULead DVD Factory.. Nice interface…and good menus!!
I dont know why you guys try to fit multiple movies in the DVD format on 1 disc. Those cheapo 5-1 dvds that you get on roads have utterly garbage quality with very low audio and video bitrate.
Keep in mind a good 800-900Kbps video and 192Kbps audio quality will hold approx single movie of 90 minutes in 1 DVD R.
Divx is compression format and thats why size is less, dont expect vob to have same size as divx.
Either do 1 movie / disc or buy player than can play Divx.
Personally i use AVI2DVD for this purpose. Works great.
Exactly …both are two different video standards … Mpeg 2 and Mpeg 4 . so when with 1Mbps you can achive very good quality with mpeg 4 the same would require over 3.5 mbps or higher with mpeg 2 . Ideally you shouldnt try an put more than 1 movie on a 4.7 gig disk … and movies over 2 hours best on 2 4.7 gigs disk .
use convertX. One stop solution.
