i have some…old original..dvds and vcds..of some of my fav. movies like rocky 1-4( r getting old )…and all…Which ..i want to convert to divX format so that i can..play them..on my dvd player..which says that it supports divX..but i have never tried..and divx cd/dvd..till now…so i want to know what should be the format of creating a divX player comaptiable dvd …
is it ok..if i just convert all my cds/dvds to *.avi (divx 6.21 codec )..AND MAKE A DATA DISK OF ALL *AVI FILES ?
OR IS THERE SOME SOFTWARE TO CREATE A DIVX CD/DVD ?
will my. DivX player also..support *.avi files…encoded..in Xvd or any other *avi file ??
one more thing is while i convert to divX.6.21 using WinAvi 7.5 converter..in some cases..the audio and video..are not together..and its like…the lips just move and the voice comes later…why is this problem ??
is there any other. software which converts faster..and..better..please recommend !..which can convert..from..any file to divX ..
I’d suggest you better convert your cd/dvds to divx 5.2.1 codecs which are compatible with almost all divx supported players.alternately you can even encode using XviD, though on some players( like say phillips dvp5106k) they play just as fine as DivX even though officially it is not supported. The DivX decoder can also decode XviD and vice versa.
Actually the official DivX encoder has pre-defined presets which allow you to choose bitrate/Frame rate combo that are certified playable on standalond DVD-DivX players.
I’d recommend:
Install the official DivX codec
Use any converter of your choice (e.g. WinAvi converter…it’s fast(as you want) but prone to errors or VirtualDub (relatively Slow, but the most dependable and powerful converter)
When choosing the video codec for encoding, shoose DivX, go to the advanced settings and you’ll be presented the DivX encoder configuration screen…Choose one of the preset settings from the dropdown
I think if u dont wanna get into the nuances of which quality, what size etc… then use the Dr.Divx OSS (free now)…and it does fast encoding into the DivX pro Codec
