People posting threads simply titled ‘help plz’ etc is bad enough, but folks deliberately misleading with wrong thread titles to get attention is is just wrong.People will help you anyway, no need to deceive Some action needs to be taken against them. what do they think we are , idiots ?
+1
I am thinking pirticularly about this thread:
http://www.techenclave.com/cpu-mobo-corner/surprise-113634.html
+1 I hate topics like “Please Help”, “Help me pleeeeeeez” etc. They contain absolutely no information about the thread and the creators should be given at least an infraction.
Well we cant be very harsh with new members. But what we can do is change the thread titles. Report the same and we will warn the concerned member and change the thread title.
Though you all guys can help by asking the thread starter that his query will not be answered/solved till his thread title is appropriate and of course you guys let us know about the same with report post feature :).
+1 to that…mabbe we can have some thing which will not allow people to start with thread having “plzzzzzzzzz” and others as titles
^^ lol thats too much.
Just report these things. Many people are really desperate for solutions and come here. If the user keeps doing this we will warn him. But we cant simply restrict the use of Plzzzzzz in the thread title. Thats too much.
Just report such post and we will take care of it.
Well simply changing will do… besides opening a misleading thread is not that bad…i mean there are far worse things… if i start making a fuss abt small things I would feel as if I am a snob who hurt his finger clicking on a unsuspecting link … this is just my opinion meant for me only…
its a public forum… people ask for help all the time… i wouldn’t mind clicking on a help thread…
I dont mind clicking a help thread. chances are I’ll do it anyway, but I dont like deception in it , and leaves a bad taste in my mouth…
yup but dont think we can do much about it since it is mostly done by junior members. i usually rename such threads when i come across them but some times it gets a bit ahead of me
report button is your best bet i guess
If the thread is misleading and you don’t like it, don’t help and don’t read it I mean seriously how much extra work is it to make a couple of extra clicks with the mouse. It seems that we should be trying to encourage people that need help to come to TE, if you feel like something is wrong… then tell a mod
No offense but it sounds a little elitist, I think some people use more punchy titles because there are so many threads to read, they just want to get noticed so that they can get the help they need. There have been times that by using a title that does not necessarily sound interesting, I have elicited very little response from other TE members. I have been a member for a while and a lot of you guys know me yet sometimes it can still be a little frustrating trying to figure out what title to post to elicit the response you are looking for. There is nothing wrong with that, it’s just that there is so much to keep track of, one does not always see threads till long after they have been posted. I am sure everyone here has missed a birthday or something… well I would imagine it is the same for newbies too… but worse because nobody knows them well enough to pay closer attention to what they are saying.
Actually old time members should atleast make a point to name the threads correctly, because these threads will have more information.
An aptly named title, makes search so much better
What about deliberately misleading section titles like ‘Graphic Cards’ ? There’s nothing graphic there. Or … should it be Graphics Cards ?
Now this is perfect example of deliberately irrelevant post. aka spam.
Video Cards, Graphics accelerator, Graphics card, Graphic card, GPU are perfectly accepted names of one and the same thing.
Well, technically it isn’t ‘Graphic’ card, its ‘Graphics’ card.
Firstly, I wasn’t entirely serious.
Secondly, ‘graphics cards’ is more correct than ‘graphic cards’.
And, imo, it was worth pointing out.
Yes, but again see, what is this thread and where you guys are going.
My suggestion to clear all fuss
Ban members for causing mental agony to other by opening a ‘Misleading titled thread’.
While we are at it make TE membership by invitaion only. Screen everyone or better yet…have a test (Quiz) to check whether they are suitable for the community ‘principles’.
Any member violating the sancity of the forum will be publicly humiliated and ip banned.
wrong post!!! mods please delete
^^lol
when i come across such a thread, i just hit backspace
