pm bf1983.. he just got one of these boards. you can see his oc results in the superpi thread
I am facing issues with buying the Asus, the one I really liked. Service issues here with poor reputation.
Why no suggestions for MSI (which has good reputation for service here).
MSI P45 Platinum/P45 Zilent
P45 Neo/Neo2/Neo3
Or any of the MSI P35 based motherboards?
Like Efinity
P35 Neo
P35 NeoCombo
P35 Neo2
P35 Neo2-FR/FIR
P35 Neo3
P35 Platinum Combo
Asus service has improved by miles.
from what i’ve heard you get over the counter 1 is to 1 replacement for boards in the P5Q series onwards
Guys, thanks for all the help and advice.
I have more or less decided on an Intel motherboard, with integrated DVI-D graphics. I am not going to overclock. No graphics work either.
I just need a stable business-class board and this one looks fine to me. However, I must admit, I am tempted to go with the Asus P5q + entry-level graphics card
What is the difference between P5q and P5qe - just the absence/presence of crossfire?
Now, the processor. I am still confused regarding the Quadcore 6600 @8850/- + 4% VAT or E8400 being offered at 7850+4% VAT.
While money is not the issue here, for normal desktop use, normal office use, would not the E8400 be faster? And cooler with the 45nm architecture?
Please advice soon. Will finalize everything today.
Tentative config:
Q6600 or E8400
Samsung 223 SATA DVD combo.
Intel DQ35JO or Asus p5q
WD 320 x 2 HDD (16 MB cache) with RAID 1
Transcend 2 GB 800 MHZ RAM (would I lose dual-channel functionality if I take 3 gb?)
Cooler Master Elite 333
Corsair 450 Watts power supply
Vista Business Edition (retail pack)
Using existing keyboard, mouse, monitor, others.
Thanks in advance.
Anyone guys :please: help ASAP.
