Do Dell laptops bought from US have warranty here in India?

Does Dell offer international warranty?

A friend wants to buy and the warranty is important.

Also, if he buys Dell Vostro Laptop with “free dos” and installs XP(the infamous one) later on will it be a hinderance in any warranty claims?

Yes it does..AKAIF, All 3years warranty are international warranty..But its always better to checkup with a dell rep..

No No problem as such, have the same laptop..They will not troubleshoot any OS related query..They do provide drivers for windows though, irrespective of what OS you buy(Or dont buy as in your case)..

The 3 years warranty is usually international. 1 year warranty is restricted to a country but can be transferred to another. There is no charge for the warranty transfer and can be done as many times as you want. It takes a couple of calls to Dell and about 2 weeks to get it transferred.

Installing XP doesnt hinder warranty claims.

Just 1 thing: The 1yr warranty thing: Its not applicable on all 1 yr warranties so you might want to check up first. A friend had an inspiron with a 1 yr ‘return to depot’ warranty and as per Dell India, that warranty isnt valid/cannot be transferred to India :frowning:

ya u might need next day **on site **warranty..ask the rep if its possible and take a written EMAIL as confirmation..with his dell id..
