I have installed Windows XP. It asks me to activate. I closed that pop up box. Again and again it pops up and say that "I have 30 days to activate.
What to do? The OS which i installed was taken from my friend. Its a original licenced version. If i activate, do any problem arise??? I dont want to get into trouble and i dont want my friend get into trouble.
Please explain me in detail, if we get any problem because of that activation.
Consumer versions of windows have single use license’s.. ie; they can be activated only on one machine at any given time.
basically, what you are doing is ‘borrowing’ his license.. which is illegal.
^^^^yup. if u try activating, both ur versions WILL be locked out 
as unlicensed copies. so ur friend will suffer too 
If you activate his copy will get nulled. Better to buy your own copy. You may land your friend in legal trouble by doing this.
If i don’t activate…
Even if you do not activate the cdkey will be disabled once the duplicate setup is detected. Your setup is still not in safe waters.
But why try such a thing in the first place?

I think windows 98 is out of date. Is this possible to get win 98 for free(original version)
U cud get over the activation by certain illegal ways.
nac, what is your budget? Vista Home Premium is available for under Rs 6000. If you are on a very low budget then get a linux distro and use it as your OS.

XP HOME oems are available for as little as 2.2k and retails for as low as 3.4 k…why not buy those ???
