HELP HELP HELP-dvd drive problem
I.m desperate.Pl. somebody help.
I have Dell dimension with xp home sp3 with HL-DT-ST- DVD+RW GWA 4164B which came bundled with it.About a fortnight ago it stopped playing dvd.Day before yesterday, it stopped playing cd also.Today when I started my computer, there was a message on a black screen
"Drive 4 not found.Parellel ATA PATA 0(PRI IDE Master)
I, subsequently, disconnected and reconnected, uninstalled and reinstalled the drive, went for a system restore, but to no avail.Dvd drive is shown in My Computer as well as in Device Manager.
I,m covered under Dell Warranty.When I go their support site ,it freezes when I try to submit.I installed 'Dell support Center. but either my machine hangs or the site freezes.
Today I called their Phone support, and after wasting one hour , one gentleman who was in Malayasia, gave me another number to call, which took me another 80 mts to contact somebody in Australia and then making certain evquiries, conveniently forgot me and ultimately I had to hang up.Pl. Pl. somebody help.THANKS
