I need an email Client which downloads the emails into respective FOLDERS from their servers. I tried outlook, but it downloads everything to the same inbox. But i need 5 different inbox and folder structure. Thunderbird works fine. Any other suggesstions.
I’ve got one more query, I’ll need to access this PST from linux as well. Any good linux application which shares the inbox from windows?
NOTE: Linux is not on VMWARE. I’ll be using either Fedora / Ubuntu.
just a query!! i always thought the free yahoo doesn’t allow pop access.
is it’s true, then will u gonna imap them to the mail client ??
[on linux]
thunderbird is the best.
then comes opera mail-client: it comes with opera browser.
then comes evolution etc etc.
[on windows]
outlook [create multiple pst and set rules: but heavy on system]
I had played with yahoopops before, it was a messy little plug-in back then. This was about 6 months - yr. While I was using the plug-in, twice it broke because yahoo changed it, although Anuj was able to set it right after some time. There are supposed to be some .country domain POP servers which are supposed to be free while others are not. For my 2 cents, use gmail as it has complete instructions for using thunderbird, rediff however I have no idea.
Another thing, in thunderbird u can create multiple profiles & keep things clean. Actually it’s the preferred way to do things. For a brief period (about 3 months) I was using 2 gmail a/c’s on 2 profiles & no issues, u can set it up the same way. Only the POP settings, filters & folders would be different. Tell us how it goes
A better or alternative is freepops FreePOPs I just gave the link of the plug-ins as it tells u how many domains its supports, alongwith which domains including .co.in don’t give free POP
Mind u tht with either yahoopops or freepops if u’re using yahoo then it will be emulating as u’r looking in ur inbox manually. The speeds are nothing to write home about.
yahoo.co.in allows POP access, but may send some ads via mail. yahoo.com does not allow POP.
Been using POP access for a while, works ok, no ads so far. Tip - yahoo asks you what type of ads you would like to receive, uncheck all except comp h/w & s/w. I guess no comp manufacturer has opted for ads on yahoo mail so far.
I use POP Peeper to check/preview multiple accounts, delete unwanted mail, then use Outlook Express to download mail to seperate folders.
I’ve been using thunderbird and doing exactly what u have mentioned. i needed more options. Thunderbird UI isn’t good for forwarding and attaching messages. Thats why looking for better applications
