'Encounter' the post count where not accountable

Request to mods to ponder on my request and to my fellow TEites to understand the issue and posts their thoughts-
I hereby request that post count be disabled in sections lilke Feedback, Market, Dealers section, Hot deals in the greater interests of the credibilty of TEites.
I maybe a 1000 post old member with zero or minimal participation in the actual tech sections (where info/knowledge/suggestions/guidance/… matter).
That doesn’t make me a senior na. :stuck_out_tongue:
Also every week or the other there will newbies who cannot start a thread and will start digging up or spamming Market threads to increase post count.
Some also participate in discussion threads where there remarks are off-topic at times or don’t hold much worth due to the limited experience. :slight_smile:
I am not saying do not participate. :cool2:

And if you participate with your heart, post count shouldn’t matter na. :blush:

p.s. ‘1000’ was a randomly thought number- will change it to whatever my post count is if 1000 post old guys feel offended- unltd edit ftw. :stuck_out_tongue:

Next you would want post count to be disabled in staff section and then it would make me look like a noob with 500 posts :@ As it is someone stole my 1000 posts. :unamused_face:

But coming back to the topic. If the spammers in the market section come down to the real tech sections to increase their post count for getting access to market… :open_mouth:

Or are the market and other sections a diversion to keep the tech sections clean. :rofl:

They are not. I was pointing to the fact that your intentions of disabling post count get defeated by the mere fact that the users will spam with worthless post. If not in the market section then in the tech sections.

Mods cannot police every post and start micro managing what users say. Users will complain that TE is too strict and is not fun anymore. If it were upto me I would delete your and 2 consecutive posts in the other feedback thread. But there is a fine line between spam and fun (and getting facetime in threads).

Your intentions are good but I dont think it is going to solve our purpose.

Was thinking, maybe lack of posts by people who are here only for trades will get the buyer/seller to be extra cautious about dealing with them.
(They can’t increase post count by spamming the non tech sections and spam posts in tech sections gets deleted.)
Coz after all, a new member usually takes a glance at the post count and reps to make an initial impression of anyone. :flushed_face:

Though i have personally traded and interacted with some wonderful people who must have maybe never contributed to the tech sections due to lack of time.
Very knowledgeable and genuinely helpful, honest people whom i would love to have posting more and getting them to attend TE meets.

The Show-Off section can really do without a postcount.

Its just a “Check out my shiny new xxx” and everybody goes “Whoa! neat”, … “Lucky dawg, congratzz”.
