Hmm… Amazing..

No Rail ratings released yet though.

Hope theyre above 20A each.

Amazing?? It is useless :stuck_out_tongue: ..

talk about overkill

Useful if it can power high end DX10 cards that supposedly require 300W :stuck_out_tongue:

I believe that we should all protest against such PSUs and their manufacturers. While AMD and Intel have learnt their lesson, ATI and NVidia will take this as a license to make even more overheating, power-guzzling cards, and force us to connect them in dodeca-SLI form (dodeca = 12, I think).

Well what next Hexa , Hepta , Octa …

lol! desparate times call for desparate measures. dx10 cards are supposedly gonna need 300w of power !

^^Not the G80 for sure. Maybe the R600 i guess. It looks like the default psu will shift to 500W by next year as its shifted to 400W from 300.

I think, after a few more months, well have 6 - 8 Rail, 1500 - 2000W PSU’s, which have about 4 120MM Fans and are louder than a Lamborghini gallardo.

Nah ! both Ati and Nv have been briefing psu makers to make high wattage psu’s like the one we see here.

ATI and NVIDIA have been briefing power supply manufacturers in Taiwan recently about what to expect for next year’s R600 and G80 GPUs. Both GPUs will be introduced in late 2006 or early 2007, and while we don’t know the specifications of the new cores we do know that they will be extremely power hungry. The new GPUs will range in power consumption from 130W up to 300W per card. ATI and NVIDIA won’t confirm or deny our findings and we are receiving conflicting information as to the exact specifications of these new GPUs, but the one thing is for sure is that the power requirements are steep.

AnandTech: Computex 2006: 300W GPUs, Conroe, HDMI Video Cards and Lots of Motherboards

If they sound half as good as them I will still be extremely happy :stuck_out_tongue:

But as Kingkrool said, this is getting out of hand. Intel and AMD learnt their lesson. Looks like nvidia and ATI still havent understood…

overkill or otherwise , we would know within a couple of years. Still friggin awesome though.

1KW will still be considered Overkill for a few couple of year.

^^Yup exactly. Because at the same time theyre making all these > 1000W PSU’s, regular PC’s wont require anything more than 400W.

^^ Eh? Dont count on that..

The way nVidia and ATi are going, if you wanna SLi/Xfire a Rig, in about 1 year, youll need like a 2000W PSU :|.
