GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 vs. ASUS P5B-E

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail at Newegg.com

or

ASUS P5B-E ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail at Newegg.com

Planning a gaming system around a conroe 6300, as close to silent as practical.

So, which one and why?

thanks

Both are good boards but i would prefer Asus P5B-E.

Reason being slightly better service support for Asus boards compared to Gigabyte or MSI atleast in India.

Well the P5B-E has very limited options in terms of vDimm and other settings to play around with.

Also the DS3 has been reported to be very stable at high FSB, so I’d give it my vote

OT :

u getting the board frm the USA ?

my vote goes to the DS3… was using one before my current Abit AW9D-Max… no sweat for the DS3 at 425fsb… definitely could’ve gone higher if i had better cooling

The vdimm issue was with rev 1.01G. The newer 1.02G revision which is out now upped it to 2.45V. Id go with the P5B-E, and it also has the ICH8R SB compared to the ICH8 “vanilla” in the DS3. Plus it has better onboard sound too if that matters to you

any link to prove it?

is P5B-E available in India?

^^There was a review in AT some time back. Heres the link AnandTech: Intel P965: Mid-Range Performance Sector Roundup

No idea about availability though

^^ Ohh ok hunter, in that case the P5B-E is no brainer, but you guys gotta be careful about the revision though…

P5B-E.. All the way..

C2 965 Chipset, easy 550+ FSB.. Ok ok.. Not easy, but do-able :P.

asus p5b-e plus 1.02G revision where can i find it? /shop/price??? in HYD!

I don’t think you’ll get it… if you do, great else just get the DS3.
