a headdphone would obviously shine with amps, but from what ive read SR60 wont need it. SR80 needs it. and MS-1(which is modded SR80) would not need it much.
Also im thinking of getting Sennheiser 414 Pads as well to go with either SR60 or MS-1 whichever i get.
i must say MS-1 would be really like pushing my budget, but i would go for it if i should.
Alessandro MS-1 sounds way way more refined than the SR60. Its an excellent can and slightly more comfortable than the SR60. It works without amping but really shines when amped.
Break-in is basically using/running the headphones for a while before they start to reach their optimal performance. Fresh out of the factory they usually dont sound too great.. but with use, the drivers tend to loosen up and gain their intended characteristics. Break-in is an ever happening process, but the biggest changes happen only during the first 50 odd hours or so.
@ Nikhil - Will certainly work with the shuffle, no issues but they might not be able to reproduce the full spectrum as brightly or tightly as they should
Btw, you had a iPod Photo right? That’ll sound a lot better.
These cans are best meant for a source (Usually CD player / Turntable) with a phono stage or a regular source (Normal CD player or your PC soundcard) connected to a headphone amp.
@ Nikhil - Try KMD, he has a SR60 GO on at [E]
Edit : Nikhil, go quick, great price, one piece left!
MS-1 much better than SR60 i think. Cos SR60 is more like pre amped or tuned for rock. while MS-1 tends to be more neutral. I prefer a more neutral headphone, would love to hear the details of the same songs which i didnt notice all these years.
