HD resolution on Non-HD LCD Moniters

Procedure (An Nvidia Graphic Card is Required.)

1)Go to nvidia control panel

2)Set the signal for our monitor to 1080

3)Check the option that says treat as HDTV

4)Once done you can start scaling to higher resolution u can even tried 2560, but that’s way to small even to read! on a 19incher.

And VOILA u can enjoy hd content without scaling.

Tested with a Viewsonic 1912wb screen, native res at 1440x900, 19 inches + XFX 8800GT alpha dog

Will it work on any GPU of NVIDIA? 8500GT? Cant try it as it has gone for repairing.

And any specific drivers/software required?

What if people doesn’t have nvidia gpu in general ? Also this seems more of a trick than a guide/tutorial :stuck_out_tongue:

try when it comes it should work definately.

which driver is that? ‘treat as HDTV’ option does not appear on my 175.16 WHQL :frowning:

^^ it does
under Display/manage custom resolutions

Will it work on CRT Monitors?
and ive an HDTV 1080p option in Catalyst control panel, but im afraid to scale up. Will it work, if i take risk on CRT?

because of this sick trick i almost destroyed my dell 2007wfp :@

care to explain?

Yo, what happened?

@saumik, nope it doesnt show up(even after putting 1280x720(720p) custom resolution.

went black & came back after god knows how many restarts

i was scared senseless

it aint a sick trick..
i tried it in my frnd 22 incher…

and also on my 24 incher..

nothin wrong went here..

may be some wrong clicks !

mine worked at 1920x1080 even higher i think…did black out once when i tried that “interlace” option …had to restart

but whats the point…it DOES NOT FIT on my 20 incher i hav to use the mouse to scroll/move sideways to the extended wider parts :stuck_out_tongue: so a video will get “chopped” + it looks horrible ..the resolution, everythinng is kinda blurry on the desktop…not the video

@broar mine shows by default even tho i havnt set any custom resolutions…and if i tick the set as HDTV option then the res limit increases in the “res selection tab” ie where the default is 1680x1050 max(native) 32 bit high color bla bla it goes upto 2056 sumthing…

doesn’t work for me either.. just defaults back to monitor default rez

i too hav to use the mouse to scroll/move sideways to the extended parts..

not working for me… nothing happens… it shows a tab that the resolution is going to be tested… but no resolution change occours…

what i am doing :
nvidia control panel >> manage custom resolutions >> create >> i fill in 2560 and 1600 >> test >> no change in resolution occours .. displays ’ yes to keep changes..bla bal… ’ >> ok >> treat as HDTV…

not wrking for me… tell what am i doing wrong?
btw..i have a viewsonic 2235

dosent work for me aswell, i have a geforce 6600…
will try it on my new PC

geForce7300 GS no workie for me either

I’ve a AsusuEN7600GT GPU and Samsung Bordeaux 26" LCD TV as screen and though it res. upto 1360x768 only but options for as high as 2048x1536 is also available “natively” .
