The famous and dreaded BSOD has stuck me with a vengeance.
I was out of station last week for family trip and when i returned yesterday, i started my rig. What followed was really a worrying experience for me.
The system booted fine while i was examining a patient, system was idle and it crashed with BSOD which pointed to ialmrnt5 driver error.
I rebooted this time it booted with garbled screen and kept rebooting itself.
I tried multiple times but could not succeed then it ramdomly booted fine and allowed me to work for about 1 hour and it crashed again.
In that 1 hour i searched on internet and its known problem with intel 82845 onboard graphics family.
I tried all the steps i could.
Downloaded latest drivers available from Intel website and installed them.
Checked the system for any malware and spywares.
Removed almost all the junk, system protection softwares.
Reverted back to older version of drivers, replaced the in question dll file.
Now only steps remaining are:
Reassembling complete rig with new thermal paste and removing dust.
Try with a idle lying Radeon 9800 pro card (but i doubt its probably not working so i would have to ry something else)
My config.
P 4 2.0 ghz on Intel D845GBEV2 motherboard.
2 Gb Ram (recently sourced from stormblast working fine)
samsung 40 Gb HDD (could this be a weak point or dying)
Lite on Combo drive
Software side:
Win XP Home licensed fully patched.
NOD 32 fully updated
Comodo firewall
I tried system restore but the restore points have all vanished.
I also tried lask known good configuration but it failed too
It sometimes boot into the safe mode but does not allow installation of third party applications.
Anything else left out?
Please help me out.
Right now i had to bring my home laptop here to surf and research.
And i do not want to spend much on this rig now as long overdue upgradation is in pipeline as i am looking to digitize my hospital records keeping. so more upgrades then only.
TIA.
