Well, these days, I am confined to one single room and the router and modem are in the room at the top of trhe house…
I get pathetic pings with any IP address starting with 124.xxxxxxx or 250.xxxxxxxxx
I get good pings to CSS servers with IP addresses starting with 59.xxxxxx or 61.xxxxxx
Now, earlier, to change the IP address, I used to manually switch off router and modem and then switch them back on after 20 secs or so.
Now, I cant do that. I dont feel like telling someone or the other to go all the way to my room and switching it off… Sometimes I had to switch off and switch on 3-4 times to get a good IP address… I dont feel like troubling my family with something like this now.
Any way to change the IP address from my comp ??
I have made a list of all the good IP addresses that I have got in the past few weeks… I tried going into my router settings and changing the DYNAMIC IP setting to Static IP and then copy pasting the 59.xxxx IP address… but it didnt work.
It asked for some Gateway. I gave 192.168.0.1 (the address I use to connect to my router)…
Please tell me what to do…am feeling bugged without CSS I have nothing to do the whole day but play CSS…
i know a procedure to get the thing done..
jsut confirm that the connection u have is airtel & the modem is 220bx..
i can give u step by step procedure…but the pings will be ~80 unlike the normal ~60 pings…reply back if u are interested..
simple solution … change from pppoe to Bridged mode connection.
this is what i did for the 220bx
in the routermain page
192.168.1.1/main.html
advanced setup–>wan–>edit the connection–> choose bridged connection (u shd know the userid & password whenever u want to connect..it’ll be like dialup)
save reboot the modem.
once u reboot the modem..your internet no longer works by default.
now…when ever u want to change the ip address…
just disconnect from network connection.
& reconnect..
u dont even have to wait for 5 secons…the authentification will be done in a second…
goto network connetions–> create a new connetion–>connect to internet → setup manually–>connect using broadband connection–> enter userid (prolly ur telno with 080prefix) & password..
p.s: , just to make sure u have a backup..write down the wan connection details from the router control panel…just in emergency..
Most router have option of reboot in thier settings page(usually accessable at 192.168.1.1)…look for it.When you want to change your IP, reboot the router
^^Actually all router’s need that time, since when you click on reboot, router’s OS is restrated, it establishes the link again and then connects.
The bridged mode option which you suggested earlier is faster since router has do the connect part only but its disadvantage is you can’t share your connection if you have more PC’s on your network..
