I was also quoted some absurd prices for the 800 and 1066 DDR2 sticks :S
I never realised that the price difference between their Indian and US prices could be so much…
I will be using the memory on an HTPC that will be used for music and movies and next to negligible gaming.
However if there was a jump in the performance then I didn’t want to settle for less. My main focus though is on as less heat translating to a very silent pc with max 1-2 fans.
Any ideas on a good price and the best place to procure the RAMs in Lamington road, anybody?
Since you are going in for 2gb, i don’t think you’ll see much of a performance difference between corsair value RAM and the transcend sticks, coz right now 2gb is more than enough for any system…
since money is of the prescence , id suggest you go for the transcend sticks at there wont be THAT kind of performance difference that would justify spending more on the corsair, and this ram shud be more than nuff, i have a pair of transcend 1gb sticks ddr2 667 and they work great, havent tried overclocking them but they do overclock great too as im told if you want to.
Thanks everybody so consensus points to opting for the Transcend. Haven’t yet got the quotes for DDR2 667 but guessing should be around 5.5 to 6K per stick.
BTW the Performance RAM(two 1GB sticks) from Corsair was at 22.5K (+4%) for DDR2 800 and 27.5K (+4%) for DDR2 1066.
Are these sticks justified for an HTPC or do OCers only use them?
^^LOL those are lame prices for sure… I got quoted 23.4+tax for 1066 and 20.2+tax for 800. Needless to say i didn’t buy and got better stuff than corsair imported :P.
