I recently got a spare motherboard when my Abit-IP35E conked off. Internet was working fine till i got back my IP35E repaired. When i assembled the computer with the IP35E, i am not able to connect to internet and it gives out an error message : The system has detected a conflict for IP address.
Troubleshooting steps performed :
Re-installed the network card with the driver from device manager.
Removed the IP35E motherboard and put back the spare motherboard on which the internet was working fine, still the same issue.
Re-installed Windows Vista by formatting the C drive, same issue.
Tried using the USB feature of the Motorola SB modem, nogo.
Unable to perform an ipconfig /release or renew as it gives out an error message regarding pseudo loopback0 at the command prompt.
There is nothing that i can think of.. need help here
Now, I am baffled that even after reinstalling windows vista the problem persists and its left me without internet connection (was at the office when i posted this ). The biggest issue is that the connection is from Hathway=static ip address, i cant change the ip address or do a DHCP.
Any more resolutions would be greatly appreciated !!
When you change a LAN card (including the one which is inbuilt on the MoBo) then you have to ask Hathway’s Helpdesk to clear the BINDING for the new LAN card, I understand (not 100% sure) that each LAN card has its own MAC address and this has to be registered with Hathway during the BINDING process before the connection can be made. Phone Hathway’s Helpdesk and get the BINDING done, they may ask why - answer that you have changed the LAN card. It takes them one minute to complete. I change my MoBo’s often and every time I have to get the BINDING done again.
But if it would have been the binding issue, why didnt it occur when i changed the motherboard from Abit to the spare one.. the internet still worked on that. Only when i changed it back to Abit (repaired, not even a new one) it started acting up. And now, i dont have internet connectivity on both the boards
BTW : this motherboard change would be my 7th in 1 year.. but never had this problem before :S
I dont have the binding issue on every change of the MoBo, though it happens most of the time, a month back I changed from A8N-E to IP35-E and no binding issue then the IP35-E died after 10 days use and I changed to an Intel DP35DP and there was a binding problem. A couple of days back Hathway had a breakdown in the line for about 2 hours and when the line was restored once again my conx lost its binding
Most of the time when I have had a problem with my 6 year old Hathways conx it has been caused by binding :S
I was told by a Hathway engineer to have the binding done on every change of the LAN card.
hmm..interesting aye .. so u suspect its binding ? .. well let me call up the slapway and ask them to make it right.. they might need my mac id then ..
err i dont think they will ask you for the mac id ..just be online ..and they bind the mac id ..
and by the way IP conflict could also mean someone else trying to use your ip..though i dunno why someone would do that on Hathway..but it;s possible ..cause many people do that on Sify network with static ips ..:@
is it not possible for me to get 2 workstations working on 1 connection and 1 static ip ?? .. i have desktop as well as a laptop.. i dnt mind shutting 1 down so that i can work on the other workstation.
