The other thread was started with very good intentions no doubt,… but its only snowballing into a flamewar of sorts with people sticking to their view of things and not being ready ot accept the other parties views..
from what i read in the other thread, i came to the conclusions as represented by the poll options.. just click on ur option. and leave ur comments if any. try not to respond to someone else’s comments.
jus leave it at expressing your own personal view. Let the mods see the results of this poll and decide on the future course of action at the earliest.
Keep in mind that the first 4 options above are applicable only in case of serial offenders who have not stopped crapping/lowballing despite repeated warnings.
Which part of that thread drove you to that conclusion?:S
There can be heated discussions/debates but do not try to put forth some non-issue that doesn’t exist in the first place.:cool2:
Off late- if any post/comment is of a different opinion as to what someone has posted, that person takes it as a personal attack/flame and gets offended and tried to get back in some way.
What’s wrong with everyone?:S
Earlier we had posts where people seemed to be ready to murder the other person in general/technical debates/discussions but still were/are great buddies online.
To start off with, there are certain few unknown ppl/newbies/strangers/non-acquaintances who PM Mumbai people thinking Lamington road is a stone’s throw away from every Mumbaikar’s place and they have the time and energy to go shopping for them.
Don’t you think such people who misuse PMs should be banned at first sight?
When people get to know each other over a period of time, such requests over IM/PM maybe entertained at that person’s discretion but a PM out of the wild from a nobody can be very annoying.
Also what to do with those who never post openly in the thread but lowball via PM- coz no matter what- revealing a PM openly on the forums is a cardinal sin IMHO.
imo sellers will try to maximize their sale profit and sellers their buying profit. this is the most basic rule anywhere i think. ultimately its upto the seller and buyer to decide amongst themselves what price is best in both their interests and come to an understanding via pm.
banning, flaming is temporary and wont be of any use to anyone i guess - it’ll only bring abt some bad relations between ppl.
All said and done, it helps if peeps have a li’l maturity and common sense while replying to posts - be it in market or elsewhere. Until that happens, temp ban, perm ban, infraction will help in no way, IMHO.
besides, we were n00bs once too - kinda been there, played dumb. i hope it is not too much to ask from one and all for a li’l patience while replying / reporting seemingly n00bish posts. a polite reply correcting the errant goes a long way than a “STFU n00b, joo suXor.. BAN BAN BAN!!” kinda reply
yes what you said is correct abu, but how many people are actually mature here & reply using common sense. whats the average age of the people on the forums. i am sure it will be around 20 or lower. so a temp ban also from the market can help sometimes like when kids are punished. heh
Why no option for “lowballing” is perfectly OK? or does that opinion not count?
Who does not want to get the best price?
By the same yardstick, what should the punishment be for “Highballers” ?
My opinion, its a market, an open market, anyone can hope and bid at a price, like I read on one of the Threads, someone commented he did get an Antec P180 for just 2-3k, so nothing is impossible.
In the same vein, would a WTB ad at a very low price be considered lowballing?
Its a free market, there is no “lowballing” or “highballing” its just Demand V/s Supply -
But it kinda gives bad impression to other buyers that the product might be intentionally priced high.
Besides if someone is not comfortable with the price and still interested in trade, i guess PMs are the best way. Doesnt spoil the thread or intentions of the seller and also buyer may discuss his side properly :S
