I can’t remember when was the last time I was over at the market looking for something but I’ve never had trouble finding stuff. A little while ago, I gave up looking for a DDR2 kit after having to weed through a ton of garbage, mostly lame questions, comments and silly bumps
I was reminded of the new picture rule that is supposed to make sales smoother. Well, I think if you truly want to make the marketplace better, reduce bumps to every 10-14 days with absolutely no conversation allowed in the thread - stick to PM.
Before someone starts whining about that, let me point out there are larger forums with an international user base that will suspend you if you bump before 21 days. The market will function more efficiently if there were less frequent bumps.
What is the point of bumping a sale thread every day? It clearly serves no purpose other than burying threads that don’t get bumped, and buyers could lose out on good deals.
While I’m on this subject, I planned to list a few parts I have in Bangalore but I can’t because I’m not there to do a photo session with a handwritten note stating date, time, age, etc. Pics are online and the parts are mint but I can’t list them because my listing/s will be taken down
Now, I have sold high ticket items to members on this forum and I know they would buy stuff from me without batting an eyelid, let alone asking me for a pic. That reputation and my iTrader rating is useless to me in this current situation.
TE market traffic is too high. If sellers are not allowed to bump their threads, they get buried in matter of 2-3 days with sheer number of new threads made here. Leave alone the bumped threads.
One of the busiest trade forum is AT and they have just 4 hour bump rule. We are not there yet and 1 day is sufficient. And if buyer is keen on selling, he will bump and update the thread.
21 days is far too long. People will find other ways to bump the thread like price update bump by reducing 25-50 bucks at a time. The current system is enough. Search works fine.
And about stuff sitting in Bangalore. Sorry, exception is to no one. not even our staff members. Reputation and iTrader has little effect on buyers. Specially new members who are skeptical. And exception cannot be for 1 person or for few people. Same rules for everyone.
Useless comments, I agree. Some lame and unnecessary comments are made. I delete it whenever i see them. ( and people complain again when that happens  )
For now its ok as it is. People abusing market will be warned.
Rio, start a thread in General Talk. People who trust you will buy it anyway. Since it isnt in the market section, technically, the mods cant interfere.
That’s my point too, they seem to be getting buried today because of the daily bumps. I’m not suggesting 21 days, try something new like 7/10/14 days to see what works out. I’m not asking for exceptions dude, I don’t need it, I’m asking you guys to reconsider the rules because it doesn’t make a lot of sense.
Did you guys also notice the number of WTB threads burying the FS threads? I think that verifies my first post, that buyers can’t find what they want so they’re forced to start new WTB threads all the time.
@Sharekhan/Nikhil: Thanks, don’t think it’s right to sell computer related stuff outside market. Guitar related stuff I attempt to sell in the guitar thread, that’s different because 99% in the market will have no clue what I’m selling. 8800GTX has almost sold anyhow just by telling people
EDIT: I just realized I have over 200 contacts on MSN lol - will create a page on my site like I did for guitar sales and spread some love.
As you wish. A feedback that will make sense will be taken seriously. I just informed you the solution to your problem of not being able to find what you want.
And pic has been discussed to death before.
And at the moment main traffic of TE is still well manageable even with daily bump rule. If the situation changes drastically we will even consider this.
We will take care of OT as we spot it or when reported. When what you want does not materialize people say its not taken seriously. Oh well. Closing this. If you want this opened, PM me.
