I had made a new demonoid acct few days ago and downloaded stuff like 1GB from it with a good ration ~.85.
I log in today and find that it shows 4.22 dloaded and 3.0 uploaded. I havent had any activity in that period.
My ratio is reduced to .68 now.:@ :@ Hows ids this possible?? Is it hacked what can i do now. I have even changed my password. But the stats keep changing daily without any activity from me.
demonoid is pretty cool when it comes to ratios… They don’t ban somebody very easily(Read the demonoid rules if you dont trust me) and yes there servers are screwed…
My ratio is getting too low, am I going to be banned?
The ratio system is purely statistical and somewhat innacurate for the ones with shared or dynamic ips. Besides what other users may think of you for not sharing, there is no punishment for having a low ratio.
Why isn’t my ratio being reported properly?
There are a few reasons your ratio isn’t updating properly. If the server is unresponsive, slow, or overloaded, the “event=stopped” message which is required to update your stats may become lost. Similarly, a faulty, experimental, or beta testing a client, may also cause your stats to be misreported. Another possibility is the site may have a different IP associated with your account than the one you sent the “event=stopped” message with. If your client supports DHT and it is enabled any data transfered via these means will not count toward your ratio.
Why doesn’t Demonoid use a “live tracker”?
Demonoid tracks too many peers, and live-tracking would put too much of a strain on our server.
There are a few things you may try to ensure a proper ratio update.

Be sure you are using a compatible client. Many clients do not follow the bittorrent protocol properly. Use experimental and beta versions at your own risk. If you’re not sure what is compatible or not, be sure to check out this forum thread. It’s a pretty coherent list of clients which have been through a battery of tests.
If you have dynamic IP and/or sign in from multiple locations, the site may have the wrong IP address associated with your account. The best way to remedy this is to sign out of the main site (torrent side), sign back in, and browse the site for a bit. This should refresh your IP.
man.. i never seen anyone getting so much tensed for a torrent website account lol.. ur behaving as if you paid for that .. take my a/c and enjoy
demonoid is really screwy when it comes to ratios… i think part of the problem is that it is a semi public site. you will frequently find demonoid torrents on mininova or any other public sites. so you can basically access the tracker even if you’re not reistered there.
i have downloaded some stuff from demonoid but its not added to my ratio even though i seed it back fully. dont worry about it.
