Also, the thread started by katmandude not only contained watermarks to the site, which does amount to advertising leading it to be unfair to other advertisers. Apart from that, the images were also hosted at the watermarked site. Since we donot allow hotlinking from other sites, we had to change the thread status to “Moderated”. Please note once again that it was not deleted, but given a “hidden” status granting access only to the moderators. We can later “approve” the thread based on our decision. As you all know that we all come here in our spare time, I am sure you can respect the decision to wait for sometime till we finalize on the status of the thread.
it seems that our moderators and support staff have taken the issue to heart…ok we understand, the portal needs money to fund itself. Point taken for now and future, , anyways on introspection you guys are doing a great job, i know u all know this but just wanted to appreciate still.
Admins, please add someone who has a business sense to your team - being a technology enthusiast and having a business sense are 2 very different things, and it’s evident in this thread.
He’s trying to help people here, something none of us are willing to do… work with him and not against him.
Hey the rules clearly state that no business is to be done in market section, so what are you guys complaining about if the threads are on hold. He surely has intentions to do business.
What happens when things are imported in large numbers later, as he said he would, if this is allowed, the TE market section will be flooded with his sales, and others might follow too, this community is supposed to be for individuals disposing off their stuff.
I would make a suggestion to allow katmandude to make only 1 single thread in the market section for his stuff, if at all. He can post all his stuff in 1 thread.

You say you’ll have no financial interests in the site and you want the money only to recover the costs to maintain the site. great! anything for the betterment of the Tech Community. Infact, I am even willing to offer you my dedicated server hosting with unlimited bandwidth and whatever other costs you had with the domain. I’m willing to do all this with the communities interest in mind, but I will not pay for Ads. If I have to pay for ads what is the difference between you and sites like techtree and ebay. I might as well pay ebay their fees for each item I sell there. I thought TE was here for the community and thought you would support my endevours which is in favor of the community.
You guys have been seeing my posts for almost a month now. You even saw me taking orders for the TY discs…no one objected or even sent me a PM. Now, all of sudden without any warnings or even a notification you just remove my thread. Communicate guys! This was highly unprofessional of you guys to just remove my threads and not even inform me about the same.
I was infact considering of teaming up with TE for the betterment of the tech community, but this completely unprofessional act has got me thinking otherwise.
This is just to check the interest and workability of his venture…If and when he sets up business it will be different, as he has mentioned. This is a great deal for so many of us…some products which are not easily available here…

I presume you have worked for a while and am sure you do know the difference between what comprises professional and non-professional behavior is not evident to college going folks! (and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing…keeps things a little more chilled out…know what i mean

Suggestion for the Mods- Rules, especially on open forums need to be viewed in the right spirit…
Involve Katmandude in your discussions coz the consensus here seems he wasn’t posting his threads with a pure commercial interest and his Market thread were in fact pretty neat …
Have an open discussion with him…
and don’t involve all & sundry (i.e. close this thread ) before all sorts of random suggestions and comments (like mine..LOL) convert this in a flamefest
well katman i have to say that had you done the same (communicate) and put in a word about whatever you have planned with one of the mods or admins this might have been avoided.
as superczar said most are in college and are busy with exams and work and may not be aware of what is happenning with your threads. we have had many cases of rule abuse with people adding links to commercial sites in their siggys and other forms of abuse. so we just delete those threads on sight.
you say that you have been posting for months but one of those posts directed towards the right person via pm would have helped your case a lot.
But still I don’t see a big issue here, his posts are obviously a new thing on the forum, so what’s wrong if they’ve put them on hold till they think about it, it’s not like they have already decided to not allow him to post. Dont u think it is wise to take time and think what goes on the forum, especially when it’s something new. Rather than trying to solve issues when they arise. I’m not trying to say that his posts will give rise to issues. But this is certainly out of flow of what we see here everyday, and I think some moderation is nothing bad.
That is false allegations. I have tried to help the community in whatever way I can …i.e. whatever falls in my realm of expertise.
I have even received reputation from your fellow Moderators (TheMask) and Support Staff (Funky) for posts in threads other than “Importing Container Loads from the US”

Nothing wrong in putting my posts on hold. Sure go ahead do it and take your time to review, but for gods sake inform me about it. It’s quite nerving to seeing your threads deleted all of a sudden. I check my Pm’s, check my emails…nothing…nada! No notification that the threads are put on hold for further review. There would have been no necessity of even opening this thread if the notification part was taken care of. Guys, I’m sure you can automate the task of sending a notification to the user when his thread is put on hold.
Katmandudee sends one product to a TE member (senior and reputed obviously) for reviewing.
That TE members reviews it and writes a review on TE. This way, awareness of the product spreads and if the product is good, katmandude wont have a problem selling it on TE.
TE gains by adding more reviews to it’s database.
Of course, this is fraught with danger… katmandude shouldnt expect the reviews to be all goody and should be ready for a slightly negative review if it happens.
He should probably give products with the confidence that they are worth the money.
I thought of this idea especially because most of the stuff this guy is bringing in is uncommon. I havent heard of most of the stuff in that thread…

Ktmndd- You will be taking some money for your efforts afterall- it’s business then.
You arent getting regular stuff- coz who will buy from u when it’s common stuff available here with warranty.
You are getting unusual stuff and it will sell coz most do not have access to it- so it is a favour to those who need it, not TE as a community.
Not to mention, you are doing yourself a favour.
And also that you have tapped into a popular online community as a very potent market- FREE of charge.
The ‘doing the community a favour’ part is so Ho-Hum.
I am greedy for h/w- but look at the GOs that happen- poor Saiyan and Funky and others go through so much hassle- buy- use own cc, pay tax, pack, ship- for no extra cost.
They extend a good opportunity/deal to others when they are availing the same.
That in my opinion is doing a service/favour to the community.

Hey bikey…wouldn’t completely agree to that…
Saiyan, Funky and a few notable exceptions notwithstanding, I have seen a lot of people selling stuff they got from US/Singapore at higher than their own purchase cost on the justification that the same isn’t available at this price in India…
I have seen people putting up threads saying they will pick stuff frm the US and pass it on after adding a 10% (or whatever) premium for their effort
^ yes, also don’t forget those who sell product(s) which they got as ‘gift’ (free), at higher than the market price as the brand may not be available here…
