Hello Admins/Moderators,
All the threads opened by me in the market section were deleted. Could you please explain to me why they were deleted. I received no warning nor any explanation via PM or via email from any admin/moderator before my threads were deleted. If I am in violation of any TE rules, please do let me know.
Atleast I expected some kind of warning or notification before my threads were deleted.
Your thread is under moderation, we are discussing whether to allow it or not. Hold on further details.
Saiyan, a heads up would have been nice. Just deleting my threads suddenly without any pre or post notification is highly unprofessional.
Please do let me know know how I am violating your Rules and the reason why threads are under consideration. Atleast give me a chance to fight my case.
I guess its seen as a profit making business…They have an advertisement thingy here for storekeepers..
I wouldnt mind one bit if u upped the price a little to put up an ad here…Lets wait…

What he’s doing is good for the community, something others can’t - you don’t just delete threads like that and wait for him to ask “where are my threads?”. In that case, why was the TY order allowed? :S

His threads were unapproved (not deleted) for using images watermarked and i think linked to his commercial site which amounts to getting free advertising afaik. As saiyan mentioned please hold on and please refrain from any fingerpointing for now
What makes you think that I am a store keeper? I don’t own any store, nor am I am a dealer or distributor. I am tech enthusiast just like you and anyone else on this forum. I’m just trying to create a difference in the Indian tech community.
you mention profit making business. Anyone who has imported before can vouch the numbers for you, when you add up the shipping costs, the customs duty, the mumbai octroi and the greasing you will realize that I am actually going on a loss initially, with the hope that someday in the future I will be able to break even or even make a profit when I pick up these items in bulk.
I have no problems advertising on TE and I surely will once I do have a storefront ready and I am actually making money to afford the advertising.
For now you can clearly see that I am selling individual items just like any other trader in the forum (infact I have seen threads where people are selling multiple graphic cards they picked up from Singapore). Also, I am selling stuff as an individual and not a company.
I have successfully completed 2 trades ( with Lord Nemesis and ms_mahu) so far before my threads were removed. They both can vouch that the shipment they received was from my individual name (and not a company name). The money they transfered was also into my personal savings account and not a company account.
i will agree with katmandude, the prices for which he was selling these items is very good, and maybe he is taking a loss(are you really?) but thats not the point, consider this more like a GO, this certainly wud benefit the community.

You may look at the watermarking as a form of advertising, but its not. The intent here is to protect my images (which took a lot of effort and time to click and edit) from being stolen. These images would be freely available to anyone on the internet and I don’t want people copying them and using them.
You mention **commercial site **. For now, from your point of view at best its only your assumption that it is a commercial site. The site is not even up yet and won’t be for quite some time. I am not going to deny that the future intent of the site is to be commercial …but as it stands now, it is not. I am not selling anything on that site and the company is also not yet registered.
If I had to advertise, I’d better do it by mentioning my site name in the threads in "Text" rather than watermarking. As you know that by using text I have link backs to my site which would yied in better SEO rankings.
You will not find a single post of mine where I have mentioned my site name. Actually I don’t even advertise it in PM’s unless someone explicitly asks me about it.
The watermarking is a complete waste as an advertising tool if you ask me. But I have to do it to protect my images. If you so wish, I’d refrain from putting up any pics in the threads. If anyone wishes to see the pics then I can send them a link in PM. How does that work for you’ll?

That is also short of AD, AD about Prime. Then it should not be allowed also.
WATERMARK shouldn’t be a problem also.
windwithme also uses ‘watermark’ in all his pics.
If you (admin/mod) force him to give official advertisement, then it will be a loss of all TE members.
He (katmandude) even if give official ad, then he will just add the ‘extra’ in his product’s selling price. So, we have to buy much higher price…

i have a solution:
if katmandude wants to watermark his pics let him use his name at te to watermark the pics. this will solve both te moderators problems and katmandude’s problem. he wont have to bother abt any1 stealing his pics and te wont have to bother abt free ads in trading section.
Solution is good, but I don’t think it is ‘watermark problem’ at all.

if u mean by hosting the pics on his site and hotlinking them, then maybe it is a sort of seo thing. he should host them on some free server like imageshack then.
WWM is posting reviews and watermarking him to keep his copyright on those images. He aint selling anyone anything.
Keep in mind that there is clear rules about trying to start a business with TE as a platform. Market was abused like this before here and on many other forums that we all know off where market basically became a place for dealers and guys disguising as normal users and thats why this rule is there in place.
I saw this coming a month back when katman was planning to import and sell stuff. I mentioned this to Saiyan as well that as per TE rules this wont be allowed. Rules are in black and white for everyone to see.
I do agree this will be good thing to happen in India, but keep in mind, if you plan to make financial profit from TE then you should also return the favor and not something in future when and if it will make more profit but from the day you plan to start.
You dont pay for adds in newspapers after you make profit. And I dont know if its even about the money. Letting 1 person do this might invite others.
About people selling 2-3 GPus in marker, those have been personally owned products which users are disposing off. Even I have very high market activity. that does not mean I am using market for financial profit.

Okey get this straight… TE is a community which is run by efforts of few people… These few people started the community with thier own money and without any financial interest… But to manage the community one needs funds… And till date we are just able to make enough money to run the portal…
Now… The market section was created to help forum members sell their unwanted stuff… But as Mr. Katman dude has confessed his sole intention is to establish a business sooner then later… Just check out his profile and see where all has he posted… None of his posts are outside market section…
TE market section is not for this… Plz get this straight… And if somebody wants to use TE as a medium for running/maximizing their business then kindly advertise with us as TE is not a charity…
