In this situation, I would stop all processes of Norton then delete the directory where Norton is installed. Run a registry cleaner to take care of all invalid entries in registries. Remove start-up entries of Norton. This should do the job.
Simple. Kill the running processes. Then delete the directory. Then use some registry entry cleaner to take its traces off the registry. Done this way for many programs who feel like making my comp thier home
good that u figured out the best way to get around that prob. Just incase someone wants to eliminate norton/symantec from ur PC, just google “norton remover” & it will take u to the appropriate download that correctly uninstall any norton AV
