Bought a new Netgear WG311 , have windows vista , tried to install but could .. windows could not install driver .. tried from the cd given .. still isnt working .. can anyone help ? ..

Hmmm.. The thread (Netgear WG311 Atheros chipset drivers - Vista Forums) is the only positive one that I’ve seen on the 311s Vista compatibility.
Btw, which version of the card is it ? This thread : Installing Vista (AKA More Netgear WG311 Misery) @ nerd. : is also interesting. But all in all, a fook all card for Vista

Try those out first 
And dont think you can go back to return it to your dealer (Unless he knows you well and would take it back) because the card would work just fine with XP. Try it on XP if possible if all the steps in the links provided dont work.
