New Digicam

I’d like to buy one that has wide angle capability able to shoot at night/low visibility apart from decent standard specs. Max. budget is 15k. If this is not possible within the budget then please suggest the best for that amount.

well if u want low light cability then u need a camera with high iso which has less noise and a powerful flash.u can go for a fuji S6000fd it has a lens that can go wide has 28mm wide to 300mm tele.and very nice high iso performace it also has a host of manual controls.only draw back is it lacks image stabiliztion.u can also go for sony H2 which has image stabiliztion but its wide angle is a standard 35mm.image quality of fuji S6000fd is much better than sony H2,H5 & canon s3is.

I own a Canon A530 its pretty damn good for the price that i got it at
i u really want wht u looking for go for a Canon A700 or the A710 IS(16k last chkd) it will satisfy all ur needs plus u’ll save around 1k

Fuji cams are gd for night/low visibility. fuji s700 arnd 12k is a great cam 7.1 mp, 10x optical zoom, it is bulky btw.

Sony Cybershot W80 !!!

Does have da 16:9 capability - but that’d be at a fixed MP resolution !!! :frowning:

Ok… there is been a change in the budget; I can go for the 25-30k range. I was thinking of going for the Canon S3IS(despite the concerns regarding night shoots mentioned in the forum). Is it better to go for a DSLR model like Nikon D40 or Canon EOS305D. How much do they cost in INR?

And what are the enduser advantages of using slr?

 Sifymall has the canon s3is for 14k and the s5is for 20k

S6500FD user here .. go for it. Image stabilizer wont work in low light situation. S6000FD its nice to show .. nice to hold .. nice picture !!!

Try the RAW mode and take full control of your picture !

Check out da Canon prices at JJ Mehta Canon

Why is it so cheap at sifymall compared to jjmehta? Can anyone vouch for them?

 They obviously do not pay the import duties

Some guys at this forum have already bought from sify mall and I believe they are pretty happy. Check in the show off section…A lot of s3is from sify

Wow Sify rocks guys !!!

They obviously do not pay the import duties …

Use the search feature…Once you buy you do not pay anything…

The 2nd and 3rd links point to the sify mall buyers…cheers

Was going through a few reviews and the fuji s9600 is also looking very good - looks like it will do even better than the s3is in motion and the manual zoom is pretty cool too. But considering the s3is prices in sifymall I guess I might go for it anyway.

No matches… I did go through the earlier threads about higher end cams but didn’t notice any sifymall buyers… I will check the showoff section again.

hey u can go for the fuji s6000 performance is much better than the s3is too.

 Buy the s5is for 20k best deal possible

I have bought from sifymall. their camera prices are really good though you can’t really say that about other products.
The whole deal was very quick and I got delivery in Mumbai on a Monday for a order placed on Friday - just 2 working days. Very satisfactory service.
Their warranty is a bit dicey because they state 1 year dealer warranty. So if you have a problem you may have to send the camera to Chennai.
As regards the statement that they do not pay import duty, one shouldn’t make such emphatic statements on mere guesswork.

^^Nothing personal but my statement was based on common sense…when you buy a camera for half the price of a normal retail store anywhere in India there is something wrong..

Not that I am unhappy but obviously if you do not pay the taxes you can sell at that price point..

Anyways enjoy your cam
