I use to use Live Bookmarks ion Firefox(2.0.0.2) reading RSS feeds from Market section but it has stopped working since Thursday last week! It just says, unable to load live bookmark.
It has happened before as well, when TE went down. But once it came back again and everything worked fine.
We’ve disabled guest access to entire trade zone (which includes the market and hot deals section) until further notice. As a result, the FF feed reader is unable to read the feeds.
You’ll have to login to TE and check threads in market section manually. Any inconvenience is regretted.
But showing new market threads in RSS feeds won’t hurt anyone. If you really want, you can stop unregistered users from posting there. What’s the harm in people seeing it?
I miss checking new market threads in my live bookmarks
Lots of personal info is shared sometimes in Trade zone. Lots of offers which particular dealer / member wants to be available only for TE members.
When there is no guest access, the section is invisible to spiders.
Basically all that is done to protect the members and keep the section in check and accessible only to the members. Its only for the registered members to see the offers/GOs and personal sale threads and not for everyone out there to see.
This is common practice nothing to complain about to be honest. Just browse 1 section old fashion way.
But RSS feeds show just the thread subject line. And there is no personal info in that. And anyways, members should be told to write personal info in [code] [code] box, which unregistered members can’t see, right?
Yes, but even those deals are not suppose to be available for anyone but registered member. Thats exclusive access to the members only. Noone else is suppose to even see those. Thats the reason u dont even see the threads on homepage either if you are not logged in.
I dont know official reason for removing RSS feed for this section. But this is what my logic tells me.
I don’t get, if to post in a trade thread one HAS to REGISTER, why don’t let him have just a look without being registered. Especially, if this can lead to convenience to registered members
