ATI’S X1900GT is getting closer to release and some sources in the US confirmed that ATI customers can order this card (part # 100-435800). The same sources confirms that there will be some stores that will sell this product as a retail card.

We also learned that the Radeon X1900 GT lacks massive availability due to the fact that the R580 wasn’t falling out. This is what ignited the brand change from X1900 GTO for this SKU to X1900 GT. We can confirm that X1900 GTO comes later, after Computex, and will be based on the RV570 chip.

X1900 GT should be available with a shipping date of May 1st, in ten days from now. The suggested retail price is $249 so this card is definitely takes X1800GTO place but, beware, availability will be limited so get one as soon as it is listed. We’ll let you know you where as soon as they turn up.

Quadros to go Quad SLI[/B]

NVIDIA’s most recent Quadro FX Overview (PDF) has quite a few references to a GeForce 4500 X2 adaptor. On Thursday, NVIDIA released six new Quadro FX adaptors, including the Quadro FX 5500 series which is exactly the same as a Quadro FX 4500 but with 1GB of GDDR2 memory instead of 512MB of GDDR3.

However, the Quadro FX 4500 X2 has not been announced yet, even though it shows up all over NVIDIA documentation.

NVIDIA insiders tell us the Quadro FX 4500 X2 is two Quadro FX 4500 adaptors built on the same PCB used for Quad SLI GeForce 7xxx series graphic cards. The Quadro FX 4500, which already consumes 108W during peak operation, can usually be had for approximately $2,000.

NVIDIA insiders tell us the X2 uses more than 200W during peak operation, but would not reveal core or memory clock speeds. The behemoth features four Dual-Link DVI outputs, and is SLI-ready for Quad SLI.

The NVIDIA Quadro linecard (PDF) has a little bit more information about the dual GPU monster, including some bennchmarks (featured, right). NVIDIA’s Detonator 84.20 added the following Quadro FX 4500 X2 to the supported adaptor list, so we can almost certainly expect to see a launch before the next Detonator release.

Predicted, leaked and confirmed[/B]

Just yesterday, we brought you a story about a leaked PDF file discussing NVIDIA’s Quadro FX 4500 X2 graphics card. As expected, NVIDIA today officially announced the card which as its name implies features two Quadro FX 4500 graphics adapters.

NVIDIA touts the superior performance of these cards in many vital industries including Oil and Gas, Broadcast and Film, Visualization and Simulation, and Medical Imaging. In fact, NVIDIA claims that its professional Quadro products account for 80% of professional graphic card sales.

Now that the Quadro family has moved up to dual GPU-on-PCB, quad Quadro configurations are not far off. The GeForce 7800GTX and 7900GTX families have pushed the envelop in this department with an appearance from Dell and Alienware several weeks ago.
