We dont have many details yet, but we know that Nvidia is preparing for a new launch. Just days after it launched its Geforce 7900 and 7600 generations, it is readying a lower cost 7600 part.
The chip specification will be similar to the existing 7600 but we know that the new cards will use DDR 2 memory. It will end up slower but at the same time the cards should cost around $149. We suspect that these cards will be able to beat 6600 GT cards and for sure it will give ATI’s X1600XT a run for its money.
The launch date is just two days from now. We know that the add in board partner BOM (build of materials) cost is $110. We will try to dig out information on the the clock speeds for you.
From what i had heard earlier this was gonna be a 8 ps, 3 vs part with similar or slightly higher clocks than the 6600 GT and would perform about 10-15% better than the GT. And the price is gonna drop to probably around 6600 GT prices. Looks like its going to be a great lower mid range card. Nvidia killed the x1600xt and now theyre going after the x1600 pro.
We said we will try to find more details about 7600 GS and here they are. You can find the original story here.
The card is, of course, based on G73 core and the core is clocked at 400MHz. The card will use 256MB of 128 bit memory but we expect it will end up slower than Geforce 7600 GT due to its inferior core clock.
The card supports SLI and it uses a PCIe 16X interface. You should be able to buy it as from tomorrow for a suggested retail price of $149.
As for reviews, they will probably be sprouting like mushrooms come tomorrow.
Hmm, now the Inq says its gonna be the same GPU as the 7600 GT but clock at 400 MHz core and will use DDR-2 memory. Im guessing the DDR-2 clock will be 800 Mhz. Anyway we’ll find out in a few hours as its supposed to launch today.
Edit: killeriam, ask rashi or big. Most prob they’ll be the only ones who have it as of now.
It’ll be the prices mentioned, but here it’ll be sky high of course. Check out nvidia’s press release, too lazy to post the link but just go to their site, its right there. Theyve listed the price range as $129-149. It should settle closer to the lower end range. Remember that the msrp of the gt was 199 and within a week it was down to 189. So im guessing that the 7600 GS will be 8-9k here.
