I am running on Intel E8400 / P5Q PRO/ OCZ Reaper 2gb / Zalman 98700 LED.
I overclocked my pc to 3.6Ghz & ran Orthos,Prime95 & OCCT & the following error occured:
OCCT: The process stopped at 2 min say the CPU core temp is to hot (70)

2)Increase cpu vtt voltage up a notch(this thing has been proven to kill
a chip if gone overboard keep it below 1.35vc for 24X7 operation)
3)To ruleout memory issues increase ur ram voltage like this
If ur ram manufacturer recommended voltage is 1.8v set it to 1.9v.
4)keep the Dram RATIO 1:1.
5)Disable all cpu features(u would have probably done that already😒 ).
6)Google memtest download it burn the iso to a cd,boot frm it to test ur oc.
I use this than to boot into windows.if it shows no errors boot into windows
7)When u run orthos if the temps go above 65c STOP.
DOWNLOAD CORE TEMP to monitor temp.
Do not trust software that come with ur mobo.
OCCT, Prime95, orthos all follow 1 single rule.. they will throw back an error be it a hardware error, thread error or any for that matter when the VOLTAGES are not set correctly. There is no other thing that can go wrong in overclocking unless the hardware is of low quality or the fitting is not done properly. There is a point where the right set of combinations will strike gold for you.. this is my personal experience.. plz dnt flame :P… In my case, i had to buy new rams to get over my overclocking stint.. as it would not go beyond 3.73 ghz no matter what i did.. it was the 2.1 voltage that created a problem with my rams. It will not take 2.2v … when i bought the reapers it crossed the 2.1 mark easily and placed my system to a stable 4.2 ghz on air
p5q series boards in asus has bios issue. Flash to a new BIOS. When I got my p5q deluxe it did real as 65 degrees celcius but when I flashed to 1103 the temps showed as 28-34 degrees celcius on idle. The new bios still has certain issues though.
I removed the Zalam & reinstalled it but still no good.
I also Flash the Bios but again no good.
Is it possible that there might be a problem with the Zalman?
Guys Please help i am really Paranoid.
^^ Did you read what I and pappu have written. I said the new bios still has issues. You dont need to worry about it and use real temps to check temperature.
Well Latest Updates. i installed the Stock cooler and overlclocked back to 3.6GHZ. To my suprise the temp are exactly the same as i was getting when i had installed the Zalman. Now i am even more confused then ever. Is it the Zalman or the BIOS.
hi .. i am personally looknig after my friends issue.. as it is driving us mad. he using cm600 watts psu .. prolem is when we install stock cooler with default speed the temp is like 40 and core temp like 44-50 with zalman also it is the same.then we overclocked to 3.6 the temp of cpu is like 42 - 45 and core temp rises to 65-70 . we just need to check abt using the computer normally and see if there is any problems with it or not but these core temp is just acting too funny. i have similar setup with different cooler my temp on real temp and everest is CPU - 35 IDLE and core temp 45 - 50 . so can it be a bad mobo or cooler not effective or something else ??? this is just driving bad !!! damm!!!
