P5LD2 VM SE 800 Mhz support?

Recently picked up Corsair XMS2 2 X 1GB @ 800 MHz sticks. My config is -

Intel E6300

ASUS P5LD2 VM SE

Transcend 2 X 512KB @ 533 MHz

Now, I was aware of the fact that the my motherboard specs say support upto 667 Mhz, but my friend who picked up the board ASUS P5GC MX (having support upto 533 Mhz) was being able to run a Transcend 2 GB stick@800Mhz (although at 533 Mhz) so I assumed I will also be able to run it at 667 without any problems.

Now there is no beep sound when I start the comp and it is working perfectly fine when I insert the old RAM back.

Why is not running on my PC? Do I have to flash the BIOS to make it work? My present BIOS version was released on 2006/07/31 and there have been 4 more updates since then.

Need help. Don’t want to buy new motherboard :frowning:

TIA.

With your old ram go into the bios and said the ram bus manually to 333mhz and then try

What are BIOS updates released for ?
