Take a look at this Tagan 1100W and the TT 1200W

The thermaltake is probably overrated like their other PSUs. Anyway the Tagan should be good. What are the prices like?

Raghu.

I’d take a PCP&C over any thermaltakes and Tagans or anything else for that matter.

^^^^ Me second that , but only in my dreams :hehe:

PCP&C any day of the week… they’re super expensive though :stuck_out_tongue:

Think of the Electricity bills for a system powered by such SMPS’s … specially now as there are talks about an impending 50% increase in Electricity rates by Tatas and Reliance in Mumbai :frowning:

Hehe having a 1KW PSU doesn’t mean it’ll be supplying 1KW all the time. It’ll only supply what the components will eat ;). Even with crossfire and a dual core proccy, you’d hardly reach 500W. So factoring in the efficiency of the PSU at around 80-85%, it’ll probably consume 600-650W of power.

The 1kW is around $500 at newegg…

Grossly over-rated though as Chaos pointed out above…

Why would anyone require quad PCIE connectors? You cant run more than 2 cards in a system currently (maybe 3 later). Are there any other PSU’s that have more than 2 PCIE connectors?

I am aware about all you mention… BUT… 600 - 650w is nearly half the consumption of my 1 ton A/C which runs at 6.2A - also factor in the Monitor and external USB dsevices and a Laser Printer… now think about the electricity consumption to run such a computer 24/7 - this was the point I was making. As it is my electricity bills are sky high - I dread the 50% increase in the tariffs which is on the way.

Came across this Quad PCIE board… Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI Quad Royal

We do have 4 x SLi systems…

@ Edit : Eazy got it…

PCP&C are regarded as the king of PSU’s. They are also super costly.

yea we do have Quad SLI mobos( thats what theyre called) BUT they arent capable of running four video cards in quad sli. The best use of that mobo is to run 10 displays and you dont need a power hungry card with a PCIE slot to do that :stuck_out_tongue: But well i agree on one point, if your paying $500 on a Power Supply, you would expect it to have all the bells and whistles

But what does the smps have to do with it? If I understand correctly, if I plug this beast to a A8N-VM ( with onboard gfx), then it would consume the same amount of power as say, a powersafe 400W. Right?
