Pentium 4 533 3Ghz or Pentium D 533 2.66GHz

Iam assembling a PC for my friend (Doctor …)

So no gaming and stuffs…

Config 1:
Pentium D 805 2.66Ghz - 5900
D102Ggc Intel Mobo - 3750
512 MB DDR2 - 2000
80GB SATA - 2300
17" LCD samsung - 12500

Config 2:
P4 3Ghz 533 - 5500
Intel 945 chipset - 5500

  1. Which is better Pentium D or Pentium 4 533 or P4 800 ??
  2. Should i go for AMD with CSM mobo ?? If so what would be the cost ??
  3. Which is better Intel 945(intel mobo) or Ati X200 (D102Ggc) ?

The Pentium D 805 all the way.

HT is a joke. Always was, always will be.

Also, get an Asus P5LD2-VM Motherboard. Much better than the Intel official boards.

The dual core Pentium D 805 should be the processor to fit the bill

As it would help in multitasking.

But you better wait for mobo recomendations from the experts.

Does the mobo have onboard graphics? And anyway at 6k i dont think its worth it. The D101GGC is a very competent board.

It doesnt actually.

I didnt know he wants Onboard Video.

Then I guess the D101GGC is fine.

well…pentium D is the latest…and the best from intel…yea…so:)

I saw some heat issues with Pentium D 805 …
Its going to be used in Chennai without AC and the user
doesnt know much about PC

Should i still go for that or should i go for AMD 3000+
with onboad graphics mobo

It dosent have any issues as such. It just runs hot. If you dont overclock it then its fine. Thats what i told you, if your friend wants to play games go for an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ and Asus A8N-VM mobo otherwise the D805+ 101GGC is a nice combo for regular use and its a better buy for future use.

Yes the P5LD2-VM does have onboard graphics and overclocks well too. But its not worth the money. Stick with the D101.

Guys,
Thanks guys i would go for 805 …!!!
what about Intel Desktop Board D915PBL or the D945GNT??
D101 is only DDR and for future reselling and stuffs doesnt it make sense to go for DDR2 with 667 .. ??

And also plz suggest a 17" LCD for around 13K…

Iam also looking for a trusty shop in Richie street,Chennai …

^^Not really, DDR1 is more than enough for that processor because of the low FSB. DDR2 is not worth the extra cost because of the high latency @ relatively low speed(cheap ddr-2 533 that is). The 915PBL iirc does not support dual core, on intel chipsets its only the 945 series and upwards.

The 17" LCD of choice is the Samsung 740N or Benq FP71E(+)

I buy all my stuffs from Delta Peripherals ( www.deltapage.com) . They know me very well and offer me good price(afaik). If you want you can use my name there. Pm me for details:).

Their Service is very good(atleast for me).

How about waiting for Conroe, when Prices of the Dual Core Intel will reduce to 50%-60%. You can get a much much faster CPU there after.

Hey, you should help out only those ppl who attend meets regularly. Lol. JK.

Yeah. Delta is decent, but then there are lots of shops who are priced cheaper. Service is from the manufacturer anyway, so shop of purchase doesnt matter a lot.

Hi
My friend recently brought pentium d 820. but the processor was running very hot. So he changed to amd 3500+.
The new processor from intel based on prescott cores{on lga 775 socket}
get heated very quickly so you need a large fan which will produce huge noice. so io will tell u to stay away form new pentium processor . Why dont you go for amd 3500+ it is far better than intel.

Whats the conclusion ??? What would the temp at idle and 100% load.
Note that there would be no OCing.

By the way, are the Pentium Ds prescotts ???

And in the delta peripherals page, i could see PD 805 to be 800FSB ???

edit : typo

Or what about AMD 3000+ and mobo with onboard graphics ???

Plz reply soon, i would be buyin tom.

i could come up with A8N-VM or A8N-VM CSM mobos…

Finally,
AMD 3000+ with A8N VM (CSM) or Pentium D with 945GNT … which would
be better ??
Plz Keep in mind about DDR2 vs DDR, GMA950 Vs geforce 6150 …

I’ll go by your words …

Thanks guys !!!
@Saiyan thanks for the offer… i will get to you in case of any problem …

Guys,
Still waiting for your reply …

Pentium D with 945 or AMD 3000+ with A8N-CSM ???

Get the PentiumD with the cheapest DDR2 motherboard that you can find compatible. The upgrade path is smoother and the 2 cores do make a different. An extra case fan or 2 should take care of the temp issues.

Oh… Bought the Rig …

AMD 3000+ with ASUS A8N VM-CSM…

Satisfied… Thanks guys…
