Please suggest a VFM optical/laser USB mouse

Hi,

I want to buy an inexpensive laser/optical USB mouse for my future laptop.

For my desktop, I have an old iBall Laser Precise 6-button mouse. I really love that mouse, it has served me well for around 3 years now. But now, iBall’s website doesn’t show any 6-button mice. There are three Laser Precise models, but all are 3 buttons only. :frowning:

I am not a hardcore gamer, though I do play a few FPSs occasionally. So I don’t want any super-accuracy-headshot-friendly mice.

But extra buttons would surely be nice, because I had grown so accustomed to my 6-button Laser Precise… And I think I would like a laser mouse, since the mouse I had before my Laser Precise was a plain optical mouse, and it used to have tracking problems…

And it should work with Ubuntu.

My budget I think is around 1000 bucks.

So guys and girls, please suggest me some good models. And also, tell me from where I can buy in Bangalore. (I am new in Bangalore, so be generous with directions and landmarks. :stuck_out_tongue: )

Thanks in advance!
P.S.: I think I would prefer a smaller mouse over large oversized ones.

Spend around a couple of 100s more and get the Logitech MX518;

Hmm… Thanks for the quick reply.

Does “a couple of 100s more” mean that the price of the MX518 is 1200 bucks?

And is it a large mouse? I think I would prefer a slightly smaller mouse since I will be using it with a laptop. It should be the right balance between the number of buttons and the size.

It is not the real small ones meant for laptop use but the mouse as such is a good one with extra buttons;

It aint ambidextrous either [right-handed!!] but fits the palm perfectly;

Its under 1.2k;

hmm…i think mx518 costs around 1500/- here in delhi

Bought a Logitech MX 518 for Rs. 1450 from Premier Computers at SP Road, Bangalore.

I did ask for an iBall 6-button Laser Precise, they had that model in their iBall brochures. Said the price was Rs. 550. I would have surely bought that one, but they were out of stock. Same case with several other shops at SP Road. :frowning:

Thanks everyone for your help!

I upgraded from an iball laser to an MX 310. I find the MX310 a vastly better mouse , and its cheaper too
